RE: Arriva North West - Winsford Depot - motormayhem1 - 23/04/2016 20:10 I can see it shortly where oaps will have to start paying a small flat fare of something like 50p when travelling the way things are going with the council cuts. Unfortunately the decision to charge oaps will have to come from central government and I feel that that is unlikely as a large majority of older people vote in elections. It is looking likely that pensioners will continue to have free travel but fewer services to travel on in the future. Transport appears to be well down the agenda for central government apart from big soundbites such as HS2. I do not want to start a political argument as I think that it applies to all parties. RE: Arriva North West - Winsford Depot - 33109 - 05/05/2016 11:06 Seems macc must be having 1 of our solos serviced or sumat similar as we've got 2617 on loan this wk. Seems to be performing well too, just bit tight round the turning circle at turners in bollington though! Some services were being overloaded coming out of Chester with a result of passengers being left behind. Not good on a hourly frequency. The problem with the 84 is that it runs through many miles of sparsely populated countryside, generating few passengers. Similar routes elsewhere have not survived, and if Chester was not such a tourist / shopping magnet, I doubt that the Nantwich - Chester section of 84 would still exist. RE: Arriva North West - Winsford Depot - 33109 - 06/05/2016 05:07 As copey mentioned above the bus pass brigade are going have start paying again. Although even at a flat fare of 50p they'd still moan & call it a rip off.
