RE: Virgin Trains - N271CKB - 22/12/2012 20:44 Overhead wire probs mean there's no virgin or london midland service beyond crewe. It's been a real bad day for the railways. Most of the issues have been weather related and outside the rail companies control, but people who've been affected won't see it like that RE: Virgin Trains - SNL 824 - 22/12/2012 21:47 And it's one of the busiest travel days of the year. RE: Virgin Trains - Metroline1511 - 26/01/2013 20:34 Virgin Trains have got some really cheap tickets to London for Easter Monday. I have been able to book Advance Singles for £12.50 each way! The outbound train is cheaper than it would be on a Saturday, and the inbound train cheaper than on a Sunday, despite Easter Monday being the end of the Easter weekend. Reservations have not yet opened for Easter Sunday due to the Stockport diversions for engineering. If you held out another month, you could get it for just £1.00, (so long as you get the 1348 LIV-EUS service). Still £1.00 fares up to 12 March 2013. Ones for April not released yet. About the only good thing about Virgin being associated with Stagecoach. Fantastic value for £1, but not very effective for a daytrip. Plus my nearest VT station is Stockport. Mind you, if EMT do a cheap SPT-LIV ticket (or TPE MAN-LIV), then when I go down to stay with friends another time it could just be cheaper via LIV! RE: Virgin Trains - wirralbus - 27/01/2013 13:50 Due to the continued flooding between Chester and Crewe , services operated by Virgin are diverted between Crewe and Chester via Warrington Bank Quay reversal. RE: Virgin Trains - childwallblues - 13/02/2013 10:26 221111 on 0848 EUS-LIV this morning. RE: Virgin Trains - childwallblues - 02/03/2013 06:59 Former West Coast Thunderbirds 57313-16 have been sold to the West Coast Railway Company , Carnforth. These locos were painted in Arriva Blue and latterly used on the Cardiff to Holyhead WAG service. All of 57301-16 have now been disposed of by Virgin Trains although 57301-12 are still by Porterbrook. 57301/303/305/306/310/312 are leased by Network Rail, painted yellow and are used in the South on engineering duties. 57302/304/307/308/309/311 are now leased to DRS which now has a contract to provide West Coast rescue locos. Recently Thunderbird locos have been noted at Euston, Stafford and Crewe. These locos are progressively being painted in DRS blue at Eastleigh. 57307 has been completed and retains its Lady Penelope nameplates on a pink background. RE: Virgin Trains - jonesy3001 - 06/04/2013 13:11 Which is the voyager that has 2 shop cars, was on it on tuesday? RE: Virgin Trains - Metroline1511 - 06/04/2013 20:29 With the latest rail franchising, Virgin are destined to keep West Coast until 2017! The government have allowed East Coast to "queue-jump" West Coast, so that it can effectively be re-privatised in 2015. |
