Because the livery being applied by Avon is not the 'new livery'. It is simply a series of tests to see what the new livery will become.
Similar to how Merseybus painted several buses before settling with red and cream

That's interesting. Personally I don't think that the blue undercoat looks very nice - it makes the vehicle look more dated than some of the older darts which have wore the usual livery for many years. I think they have got it spot on with the Enviro 200 liveries. It looks fresh and clean and very professional.

I agree! The livery on the Enviro200s looks great, They should use this livery

The enviro 200 livery is the new livery which all buses will receive over the coming months
As mentioned before 251 livery was for a 35 year anniversary but no lettering has yet been applied

302 has been repainted into the new livery but they don't seem to paint the wheels so it looks only half done.

Does anyone remember when Avon Coaches operated the 433/434 between Liverpool and New Brighton along with Blue Triangle Coaches?

It is a coincidence that you include 407 in your username Moreton, as I rode Avon MCV 407 on May Day Holiday! I rode it on route 492 to make a change from Arriva on this route.
I shall watch out for opportunities to ride Avon on local services in Liverpool when I come next in September.

The lettering for the 35 year anniversary has been added to 251, looks good, spotted on the 203 this morning
