This will obviously mean Manchester Airport to Scotland services going back to the Bolton line can't happen in May. However, what effects it will have on other routes due to DMUs not being freed up is unclear at the moment.

Interesting this comes out on the day Northern's May TT appears in OTT. Although much is missing electric services via Bolton are shown.

Apparently Northern requested those paths on 20th December, some initially got rejected which is why some of the timetables on OTT are incomplete.

The announcement seemed to be well timed in relation to the reshuffled cabinet. If it was announced last Friday then May would have been under pressure to get Grayling off the transport brief.

And the contractor is Carillion who were liquidated today. Reportedly engineer's shifts are suspended this week but Network Rail are looking at a solution to get work to recommence next week.
