New Enviro400 - Jamaal - 03/02/2014 00:45
There has been a sighting on the motorway of a new Enviro400 MMC model destined for London, here are the pics.

That's a great find Jamaal.
It looks to be wearing some kind of front and rear mask to disguise the lines of the body, like car manufacturers do when they test prototypes - particularly clear around the front.
It's a strange design, definitely - although it looks better resolved at the rear now I think, even with the huge bonnet vent.

It's not Caetano lights at the front - it's Plaxton Centro ones! And the top deck window now looks very similar to a President.
Difficult to know exactly what's changed as the vinyls do a good job of breaking up the body lines.

The front looks like a weird mix of the MCV DD103 and those BYD single deckers in London, not a big fan at the moment.

For me it looks very nice on first glance. Perhaps not as attractive as its predecessor but nowhere near as much of a step down as expected based on the photos of the demonstrator earlier in this thread.
I must say though, my view on styling is the opposite: for me it is the Wright models that look dated. I've always thought the Enviro400 was a very modern looking bus and was surprised they have been looking to change it. Internally, the Enviro400s' upper deck is a lot more spacious than the Geminis and hopefully they don't compromise that with this redesign.
Having said that, the Wright Gemini 2s with DB300 chassis at Speke do rattle a lot less than their Enviro400 counterparts at Bootle and offer a smoother ride overall. The same applies with Pulsars versus Enviro300s. I'd say that in general the Enviro family looks better than Wright products, but rides worse. Perhaps that will change with these new models.

Really like that new front end. Looks loads smarter, the Enviro400's currently in service all look like a product of the 1990s,that new design really brings them into the present!

I'm definitely a fan of the new design. Plenty more photos in the downloadable PDF too for anyone that's not caught it yet. Certainly look forward to their ambitious claim of it being a rattle-free bus!
Certainly it should be an 'operator's bus' with their seemingly extensive research with customers. Just a shame there doesn't seem to be as great an emphasis on passenger feedback in the write-up though.

One of the new Enviro400 MMC (Major Model Change just in case you were wondering) has been seen outside the ADL Falkirk factory recently in full Stagecoach livery....
