Someone said at the time Wincham opened that the location was chosen due to them hoping to win Cheshire West contracts. Maybe they should have gone for a depot in the Chelford area - where it would be convenient for Knutsford, Wilmslow and Macclesfield?

Surprised to see Metrocity 145 on the 85 on Sunday, but note now allocated to Crewe.

A bit disappointed that the D&G 130 seems to be reasonably interworked with reduced Arriva 130.
That hardly gives them the incentive to sort out the ongoing reliability issues.
The D&G schedule does seem realistically timed though with adequate recovery (at least at the Macc end).
Will be interesting to see if the remaining passengers (and hopefully any new ones) take advantage of D&Gs offering.

RE: D&G Bus
Based on the tone of this quote

Quote:A spokesperson from Arriva confirmed that they "have registered to operate the 130 service on an hourly service Monday to Saturday from the 27th January to ensure there is still a service for our customers on this route."

I wouldn't be surprised if Arriva look at further cutbacks now that D&G have registered an alternative.

RE: D&G Bus
Given that from the article, Arriva are pulling off the Sunday service at the end of March, is there an opportunity for D&G to possibly step in there with at least a daytime Sunday service - just a thought!

Arriva aren't 'pulling out' as such. Mon-Sat services are commercial, Sunday services are contracted and Cheshire East council is withdrawing all funding for Sunday bus services at the end of the financial year, so the contract they have with Arriva is being terminated.

GHA did at one point run the 130 Sunday service commercially but that was only because they lost the contract and decided to keep running it commercially at a reduced frequency to prevent a rival operator taking it on - similar to what High Peak did with some services including the 27. However, when GHA collapsed no operator was interested in taking on the 130 Sunday service on a commercial basis, not even on a temporary basis which suggests the 130 Sunday service is less attractive to operators than the 27 or even the 99. Also worth noting when the 130 Sunday service went out to tender after the collapse of GHA, Arriva were the only operator who submitted a bid.

RE: D&G Bus
Maybe D&G could be tempted to run a reduced sun service on the 130. A few people may catch their service instead but not too many I'd say as a lot still travel full route into manchester.

With the subsidies being withdrawn in the very near future it'll be a miracle if anything survives. From what I've heard it's no evening or sun services at all, compete shambles from cheshire east as usual.

With all the contract cancellations happening at the same time I think it reduces the chance of there being partial commercial replacements. For instance, if D&G take a risk in trialing a reduced/truncated 38 Sunday service on a commercial basis then will they want to do the same with the 130 at the same time, especially considering they'll have more detailed data for Sunday 38 loadings and journey patterns and the 38 runs closer to one of their depots?

Pass but I'm sure if passenger loadings were there they'd give it a whirl. The 38 runs literally just up the road from the crewe depot.

RE: D&G Bus
They should be able to get passenger data from Cheshire East Council, given it is currently a tendered service.
