RE: Avon Buses
I believe it was - you may find (I don't know though!) that the Netherton to Bootle part is still commercial but they get subsidy to run the Bootle to Dingle section only.

Avon looks at Merseytravel contracts though and if they can break even on it commercially, they will. Didn't Avon start operating commercially on the 135 at the same time it was extended as part of the review. That sounds likely to me, they looked at the contract and thought they could make 30p off it commercially so did that.

Like most Avon commercial routes as has been discussed previously.

RE: Avon Buses
The 135/235 was operated on a commercial basis before the extension to Dingle, as it was by Cumfybus who operated it before Avon as far as I remember.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

RE: Avon Buses
Looking at the VOSA thread, it would seem that Avon has decided to retrench and confine itself to operating on the Wirral. I wonder if any of its Bootle services will be taken on by other operators. The 144 during the day often carries near full loads, albeit most of them being concessions.

RE: Avon Buses
The day time 144 will be retained by Avon as far as I am aware, with the evening service to be operated by HTL. They will also retain the 122.

Last week Merseytravel had published the new 144 timetable, which has been taken down now, and it did say that HTL were to take over evening and Sundays on the 144
