Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot

It will be because there is usually two lines of traffic coming down off Prenton Dell one left and straight on and the other turning right and that line is right on the junction. You can see a mexican standoff here on journeys towards Arrowe Park .

Remember when Arriva did the 417 for a short time they ended up continuing along Borough Road to Prenton Road West due to the inability of vehicles to do this corner in a timely and safe manner.

The company don’t look at physical stuff anymore, just facts and figures. Sending the 418 via The Dell is another nail in the coffin for that route and it’s of no benefit whatsoever if ‘customers’ want to get to town. Another joke but if Arriva are getting paid by Merseytravel to do it then they won’t care.

looks like the changes are coming in on the 18th, I am on the 495 and they have updates the timetables on route saying the 10A is withdrawn from the 17th

That didnt last long.
Believe 83A is going too, and with the 408 under threat and the Sat 16/7 already gone, it feels, on the Wirral, that Stagecoach are by far more keen of the two to expand

Do we know when the Wirral bus review is?
Surely it should be brought forward, if there is one scheduled of course

Both the 10A & 83A were only registered until the 17th of November

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but why don’t Merseytravel just get Stagecoach or someone to step in? To my understanding these services received ‘top up’ funding when they were with Avon, so surely it won’t cost them any more to change providers? Instead of inadequately replacing yet another vital bus service by putting an extension on a commercial service. For example, Prenton Dell needs a direct bus to Birkenhead and a direct bus to Arrowe Park. Having a link to Woodchurch Road (Sainsbury’s) was also beneficial for older residents to do their shopping. This has now stopped. A few years ago, there was 5 buses an hour in each direction along Prenton Dell. Diverting the 418, if it happens, is beyond stupid, that way passengers have to travel on the bus for around 40 minutes to get to Birkenhead, in the opposite direction than buses to Birkenhead have travelling for years.

As been pointed out, because it's not as simple as Merseytravel getting someone to operate a route, for a number of reasons the operator may not even be willing to operate a route on even at request, lack of resources mostly recruiting more drivers being the main drawback, then is the depot big enough to take all the extra buses needed for the extra routes.
