If it is a good Carrier if would not be on tender with a small bus. And it would be run commercially.

They would have done their maths and worked out what the cost per use is. this is what happens when your giving free travel away to 16-19 and train travel for £10 for OAPs others lose their buses but of course it looks better given free travel over running buses and people are used to having.

It’s a service that carries mainly oaps with pssses hence why it’s tendered. And they don’t ‘just do their maths’! They cut tendered services without any thought for the passengers and how they might be unconvinced hence why this Failsworth MP has got involved with the 396.

Certainly going to be a confusing couple of months for people.

As for timetables on TfGM website there's still a few of the Diamond ones that are missing (the new 20,21,22) and dont even get a mention on the website. I used to remember in the past when TfGM were ontop of timetable changes and had all the timetables up and uptodate and online ahead of any service changes.

Tfgm information for services is quite shocking lately they could deliver tendered route service updates more often as sometimes you don't know if the route is affected by road works e.t.c but the service changes is shocking this time full of mistakes and confusion

Only bit not covered is 0.5-mile 3 bus stops are without a bus service as rest has other routes. So, no one has to walk more then 400 metres

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Having not seen a map of revised services, I can't tell whether there will be a direct route from Tyldesley to Bolton or Bolton Hospital, will there?

129 goes close to Bolton Hospital

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Looking on the TfGM website, there appears to be some updates to the service changes that took place/scheduled to take place over the recent weekend (25/26 October):
  • 21: Service will terminate in Agecroft, near the Commerce Park rather than in Clifton at the old 66/70 terminus (would imagine this is due to full size buses being unable to turn around in Clifton).
  • 41A: Evening and Sunday journeys haven't been withdrawn after all. Stagecoach still running the journeys, but 389 also extending to Yew Tree estate during evenings and Sundays too. Means that both services serve the estate at around the same time (around quarter to the hour).
  • 520/715: Looks like the Sunday 715 service is being continued to be operated by Warrington's Own Buses until 8 November, running to Wigan. Vision Bus are running the Monday-Saturday evening journeys on service 520 until 8 November, when they start the Sunday service too.
  • 583: Warrington's Own Buses are continuing to run the Monday-Saturday evening and Sunday daytime service between Leigh and Hag Fold via the old route until 8 November. Means those journeys are still running via Westleigh, which is also served by new evening and Sunday journeys from Vision Bus' 595 service. From 8 November, the evening/Sunday journeys will run via Diamond's 583 route between Leigh and Shakerley.
  • 639/640/641: Warrington's Own Buses continuing to run the 640/641 via the old route until 8 November, when the services are re-routed away from Worsley Hall, which is served by new service 639, which started on Monday. So, services 639, 640 and 641 are all serving Worsley Hall until 8 November.

Also, some mistakes on the routes list on the TfGM website. The timetable for the new 129 between Farnworth and Higher Green has been allocated to the Middleton 129 service page. No timetable allocated to the Farnworth page. Service B3 has been removed but the 494 hasn't been added, following the re-numbering. Finally, Hulleys' X56 service between Glossop and Manchester has been added but no mention of the X57 between Sheffield and Manchester. The timetable for the X56, from Hulleys, mentions both services.

TfGM still stating that the 396 has been re-routed to Middleton instead of Newton Heath and the 419 withdrawn. No news yet on the replacement Newton Heath-Ashton route. Would imagine it'll be a standalone route, numbered 395 perhaps to fit in with the 396. Or perhaps resurrect the old 424 or 428 numbers for the old routes in the 1990s.

However, I wouldn't be surprised, particularly after the 217 extension to run between Ashton and Wythenshawe Hospital, that we see the 151 extended to Ashton. Covers part of the old 396 route between Newton Heath and Failsworth and the service currently terminates at Tesco in Failsworth. Could see TfGM re-routing the service in Failsworth then run it along the old 396 route to Ashton Road/Hathershaw Lane (Park Cakes), then straight down to Ashton.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Have Stotts got the extra vehicles/O Licences's to extend 151 to Ashton or run a revised Ashton-Newton Heath service?

The Solo SRs that used to be on 396s until this week look to be being used now on the new 387 Ashton-Hyde service.

An additional Solo SR has been acquired and was being used on the 387 yesterday, but yes could be tricky licence wise.
