Greater Manchester Service Changes

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
I thought Franchising only effects the Bus Services in Greater Manchester so why would it matter that TfGM are keeping the Metrolink Yellow and Silver livery unless this will be the livery they use on the buses. |

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
GMPTE still used orange branding when Metrolink started but the first trams were white with green. They also didn't choose yellow branding for their Metroshuttle buses or the Leigh busway, so I'm not sure why people are saying buses will be yellow because the trams are yellow. |

Maybe because, like Metrolink trams, the Manchester Free Bus vehicles are also yellow. The fact that some Transdev buses in Bury & Rochdale are also yellow would just be a coincidence. |

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Hulleys making some changes to the X56/X57 services over the next couple of months, as lockdown/restrictions starts to ease and passengers hopefully start using the service. Sadly, the X56, which is currently suspended, will not return and is effectively withdrawn. From 18 April, the Sunday service X57 will be re-instated with some re-timing to early morning and late afternoon journeys, while from 17 May, the service will be extended to Manchester Airport (perhaps taking advantage of the possible lost direct train link between Sheffield and Manchester Airport), while the late Friday and Saturday evening journeys between Manchester and Sheffield return. https://twitter.com/hulleysofbaslow/stat...8138419207 |

Over time though, TfL began to specify predominately (80%) London red and now it's 100% red. Personally I thought that the final PTE liveries were much more attractive than what the major groups currently offer and I'm not sure the new Stagecoach liveries are an argument for "moving on", imho. IF franchising does proceed I strongly suspect that TfGM will specify a standard livery based on a variation of that of GMPTE. |
