Andy Burnham doesn’t need the money for police, schools and other essential services does he? Better wasted why can’t they just manage the services with the present structure?

They are not buying the fleet just the depots

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Admin, can you please consider moving these posts to a dedicated "Franchising" thread?

The "forthcoming Service Changes" posts are getting absorbed amongst the franchise comments. I know franchising IS a service change and will have a massive impact - which is more reason to have it's own thread. I clicked on this thread today to check for info on the April service changes but found the conversation had taken a different route.

I totally agree with this request as too often posts are not directly relevant to the thread. It's very easy to create a new thread headed Manchester Bus Franchising Proposal. I'd do it myself but as I don't live in Greater Manchester I shall leave it to someone who does.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Stagecoach posting their service changes for April 2021.

Confirmation that Stagecoach have lost contracts or not renewed on the following services:

Service 41: Manchester – North Manchester General Hospital (likely to be Go North West)
Service 80: Oldham - Holts (should be replaced by the 184 between Oldham and Grotton, likely First Manchester)
Service 171: Newton Heath - East Didsbury (gone to Diamond)
Service 172: Newton Heath - East Didsbury (gone to Diamond)
Service 335: Ashton - Denton (gone to Little Gem)
Service 339: Ashton - Crowhill (gone to Little Gem)
Service 345: Ashton - Denton (gone to Little Gem)
Service 375: Stockport - Mellor (gone to Little Gem)
Service 396: Ashton - Middleton (gone to Little Gem)

Other major change is the 103 no longer running to World Freight Terminal, terminating at the airport bus station instead.

Also, timetable changes for most of its Monday-Saturday daytime services plus on contracted services 81, 336, 337, 350, 389, 415, 425.

That a quite a lot of routes Stagecoach has lost and how do you know what routes have gone to the new stated operators could this also tie in with the Middleton Depot rumours going around

Diamond having the 171/2 has been common knowledge for some time now. Goodwins have submitted service registrations for all the gained routes. The two evening 41s have been merged into one route. The 184 Grottons were mentioned in a GMCA document with First given as the operator.

Middleton is a low cost unit so unlikely to be sold. 171/172 used to be Hyde road before it moved there the ones round Ashton are routes that keep changing hands. Am sure stagecoach could move 76 there now.

The Ashton routes are supposedly evenings and Sundays so it’s again stagecoach loosing work. Stotts have confirmed they will continue operating the 396/339.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Registration PC0005236/166 is showing an 88 Altrincham to Wilmslow effective from 11 April. I wonder if that's an indication the 288 will be returning to its full timetable from that date?

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
TfGM saying there are no changes planned in the next month, given a lot of routes are changing operator in April I don't think that's helpful even if the new operator will be retaining the same timetables.
