Greater Manchester Service Changes
RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Quote:288 (D&G/Little Gem): All journeys operated by Little Gem with evening and Sunday journeys between Altrincham and Manchester Airport re-instated.
Whilst only minor, the Saturday frequencies are also being restored back to their hourly frequency:

Also weekday timetable reverts to the pre-COVID one which reduces the gap between services in the morning and mid-afternoon, as well as reinstating a 2 hourly evening Altrincham to Manchester Airport service.

Sunday daytime 288 services also serve the viewing park at the airport.

The 88 Little Gem timetable is simply:

Saturday:
19:10 Altrincham to Wilmslow
19:39 Wilmslow to Altrincham

Sunday:
09:00 Altrincham to Wilmslow, 09:29 Wilmslow to Altrincham
then every 2 hours until
17:00 Altrincham to Wilmslow, 17:29 Wilmslow to Altrincham

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
A change which has not been reported but now showing up on bustimes.org. The 415 is having a timetable change with the bus only spending 5 mins now at Oldham and running back to Middleton. This bus then interworks onto the 129 meaning. The morning bus also looks to do the 17B so overall, no PVR increase but they have secured 2 new routes. Quite good I think that.

The 40 min layover can get tidious but I’m told the times either end are quite tight so any traffic or hold ups and the bus is late for the rest of the day pretty much.
When the 96 changed route late last year TFGM never altered the times so you hit traffic in Prestwich and the bus is then late pretty much all day.
It’s clever on paper but in reality recovery time is a must.

It’s the evening service/Sunday service that’s timed tightly - when I did the daytime service at Stagecoach the timings during the weekdays were very very lax indeed and you had to wait time everywhere.

Diamond Bus posting their April service changes on their website.

Increase of frequencies on services 8, 162/163, 471 and 524 back towards pre-lockdown levels, while the 300 re-numbering to X22 will now finally take with the service resuming operations in line with non-essential retail re-opening.

Also, the new 511 Sunday daytime service will be operated by Diamond. Evening journeys will be operated by Vision Bus.

Finally, details on the 575 Sunday extension to Rivington. Service extension is in partnership with the South East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership and will run every half hour between 0930 and 1700 (except for 1000) between mid April and mid October.

Does appear that way, looking at the times.

Start at Oldham on the 415 at 0559 into Middleton, arrive at 0635 and then switch to the 17B at 0642, returning to Middleton at 0703 and then start the 415 at 0719.

415 arrives into Middleton 5 minutes before the 129 departure and then leaves 5 minutes after the 129 returns to Middleton.

The Stagecoach evening and Sunday journeys on the 415 are also re-timed and looks like that the evening service will be interworking at Oldham bus station with the 425, which has also been re-timed due to the service no longer interworking with the 80 at Holts Estate.

The 350 and 426 evening services are also re-timed with services interworking at Oldham bus station.

Normally depends on traffic coming out of Middleton now, but yeah it can be quite lax.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Looks like the new 17B service between Middleton and Stake Hill has been suspended, due to the GNW strike. Should imagine that once the strike is over (or enough drivers are available for GNW services), we shall see its introduction. Or possibly delayed until July.
