RE: Arriva North West - Wythenshawe Depot
4700 caught fire in Hale Village this morning while working the 284 Hale Barns circular service. Fortunately there were no casualties, but the vehicle may well be a write off. |

This is the second mellor minibus locally that’s gone up in flames in recent months - one of Diamonds was burnt to a crisp not long ago outside the Trafford centre. |

What's the reason for these fires on modern buses: 1. Design faults? 2. Poor maintenance? 3. Operators not using them as they were intended e.g. they're travelling around with higher average loads? |

Considering Wythenshawe could be a vehicle down for the tenders I wonder what's planned to replace it? I know there's still 2 Mellor's at Macclesfield but could anything in theory replace one of them if one of them got transferred to Wythenshawe? |

Arriva have quite a few Sprinters dotted about the UK (including the NW) from the unsuccessful Click schemes, even a local depot such as Speke could lose one theoretically as the 201 can use a full size bus. It’s also worth noting that the Altrincham services CAN be ran with a reasonable size minibus such as an Optare Solo, and there’s plenty around locally that could be swapped out. |

Speke do not have any Click buses they are operated out of Green Lane as is the 201 |
