RE: 2024 new buses!!
Thing is with these new Enviro200s I dont understand why Birkenhead are suspected to get the first batch when they are the second tier (which I believe wont be until 2027) of franchising and no one knows who has won Wirral routes/depots etc (If there doing it similar to Manchester where companies bid for Depots and Routea) I thought St Helens was first (2026) and biddings already done? If so shouldnt St Helens be the first area to get the new buses in theory? |

Since St Helens's fate is sealed, perhaps the new vehicles are being put into areas where bidding will be starting next and trying to create a good impression of investment ahead of that. Hopefully the tests on the Hydrogen vehicles will go well and those buses will enter service at St Helens anyway soon. Well, I say hopefully, but I know many are hoping for the exact opposite! |

To be honest suprised stagecoach not got some for Birkenhead and Gillmoss so its not all one sided on Arriva Unless Arriva are tryimg to secure the franchises with new buses before the routes start |

RE: 2024 new buses!!
Just wondering, with St Helens not getting any new busses does this mean Arriva are possibly not retaining the St Helens operation. If this is the case would it be the new owners responsibility to obtain new vehicles for the franchise? |

RE: 2024 new buses!!
There's a couple of answers to that:- 1. Arriva have a massive splash and launch a new fleet early next year. 2. They're not intending to bid for the St. Helens franchise because I think the most one operator can win is about 30% of all the work throughout the LCR, or 3. With the experience, so far, of the hydrogen project they think they've made a suitable investment in the circumstances so far. This is pure speculation btw. |

RE: 2024 new buses!!
I did wonder the same about St Helens whether Arriva aren't prioritising this depot for bidding or that the hydrogen buses count towards the new buses here. Was jcksmnr |
