4596 was mistakenly allocated to the 32A this morning but swapped due to the bridge on Gerards Lane.

Looking at bus times looks like it made it to the bridge then turned around, luckily after events in Manchester the last few days!

Strange allocation anyway however i remember when we had the DLAs these appeared on the 32 a couple of times at least, and I'm sure deckers used to run on the old 23/24 but of course they didn't go via Gerards Lane.

Yep driver was forced to take it even though he knew it wouldn't go under the bridge, I’m sure I remember seeing a decker on New Street when I was in my early primary years but I can’t remember if it was on the 23/24 or not.

Most routes once went the full length of New Street, with no low bridges to worry about. Until the AEC Swifts arrived in the late 1960s, almost every bus on New Street would have been a double-decker.
