Six Nations 2013
The 14th Six Nations has started in style, with possibly the greatest opening weekends ever.

Saturday

Wales continued their recent bad form in defeat to Ireland in Cardiff 22-30. While England followed up the amazing victory over the All Blacks in December with a 38-18 Calcutta Cup victory over Scotland at Twickenham. The results set up a Triple Crown decider between England and Ireland next Sunday in Cork.

Sunday

Following up on their victory in Rome 2 years ago, Italy began their campaign in style with a 23-18 victory over France - despite the late onslaught from the French and Italy finishing the last 105 minutes down to 14 men.

It means that, after the opening weekend, only England Ireland and amazingly Italy can win the Grand Slam.

Next week:

Saturday
Wales head to Paris for a meeting with France, both teams wanting to get that first win on the board. Meanwhile, Italy will be heading north to face Scotland at Murrayfield attempting to win their second game of the tournment (which would equal their record for most wins in a single tournment, 2 back in 2007).

Sunday
The clash that could deciede not only the Triple Crown but also the Grand Slam - England head to Ireland to attempt to avenge the demons of the 2011 tournment and defeat Ireland. Ireland, however, will be riding the wave safe in the knowledge that England haven't beaten Ireland in Ireland since their Grand Slam-winning tournment in 2003, ten years ago.

Good summary.

I've had a fiver on England to win every game, so fingers crossed that they keep injury-free, maintain their attacking form but cut out some of the unforced errors that let Scotland keep in touch on Saturday.

Well, England helped you again today - to at last end the long wait for a Six Nations win in Dublin, 12-6 win for England.
Which now means, after Italy's hammering by Scotland yesterday - England are now the only team that can win the Grand Slam and also the only Home Nation that can win the Triple Crown. Next in the road to the Grand Slam for England is winless France at Twickenham.

As for the rest, France are currently looking like 'Wooden Spoon' winners as the only team yet to win a game in the Six Nations this year.

Indeed, a few anxious moments but England did enough to keep Ireland on the back foot. France are shocking at the moment, just hope they don't decide to sort themselves out for when they play England!

Round 3:

Saturday
Wales' return to last year's form contiuned with a impressive 26-9 victory over Italy in a rain-hit Rome. It brings Wales bac into contention to retain the Six Nations title.
However, they will have to stop the England steamroller that is certainly looking like bulldozing its way to the first Grand Slam in a decade, after a 23-13 victory over France thanks in no small part to the strong England bench turned the half time score of 10-9 to the French around. France have yet to win this year, and have now lose their last 5 games in the competition for the first time since 1958.

Sunday
And Scotland can also dent Wales' title chances and strenghten their own after a comeback 12-8 victory over Ireland at Murrayfield this afternoon.

WHAT a result for Wales today - absolutely fantastic achievement considering our woeful form going into the Six Nations and dismal opening result. The Welsh lads and Rob Howley should be proud of what they've achieved.
