RE: Merseypride
Apparently the Coroner is demanding changes to the law to prevent the use of such old tyres.

RE: Merseypride
They will do yes, this tyre probably would have looked ok externally but was knackered internally. The other thing is that the tyre may have been put on after MOT.

RE: Merseypride
It should be pointed out that a tyre can go at any time regardless of age too. There could be any number of factors for that happening.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

RE: Merseypride
That is true, could be something in the road has caused the tyre to go, under inflation can sometimes be a factor as can over inflation, other things as well. Anyway, that is not the case in this matter, it has already been said that the tyre was knackered, not really sure we should get involved in getting into the matter too much whilst the case is still ongoing.

A 19 and half year old tyre, is a absolute pi*s take. No matter weather or not the tyre could go at any time, it still should not of had a 19 year old tyre on. Absolutle Pi*ss Take!

Reports have said that the tyre in question was on the vehicle when it passed its MOT.
Personally I don't see why people are being so quick to lay the blame at Merseypride's door. They bought a secondhand tyre in good faith, and I'm quite sure had no reason to check its age - after all, it was legal and passed an MOT.
If anything, questions should be asked of the tyre dealer, and why they thought it acceptable to sell such an old tyre.

RE: Merseypride
Unfortunatly untill there is law stating how old a tyre can be before its classed as unfit to be used then im affraid merseypride have done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law towards having that tyre fitted to one of its veichles wether it be on when it went for its mot or not as if the tyre had the right amount of tread on it and didnt look like it had severe wear and tear then its hard to tell the tyre is perishing by looking.

They may have done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law, but there negligence has cost lives.
