Inland Waterways
While in Scotland yesterday I came across a literally unique feature of the UK's canal system. The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in Scotland. It connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, replacing a series of locks, but in a particularly breathtaking fashion. http://www.thefalkirkwheel.co.uk/ |

I belive it is one of only 2 boat lifts in Britain, the other one being the Anderton boat lift near Northwich (Cheshire) which is equally impressive and a fair bit older than the falkirk wheel. |

RE: Inland Waterways
Falkirk Wheel connects the Union Canal with the Forth and Clyde canal. The Anderton Boat Lift connects the River Weaver and Trent and Mersey Canal. |
