Videoed 67005 and 67006 conveying Pullman coaches at LSP this evening on what I believe was the 18.42 Grand National charter from Liverpool Lime Street.

No EMT Meridan this evening though with 4 car 158s across the board. Bit of a shame.

RE: Special Workings & Charters
Halton Curve was in use on Friday morning, with the Northern Belle from Chester to Bristol via Liverpool, Crewe and Birmingham.

One thing that I noticed was the timings between Chester and Liverpool, it was allocated exactly 40 minutes to complete the journey, with no intermediate calling points, however I thought the timings were interesting:

(Mins From Chester)

Runcorn - 21 minutes
Liverpool South Parkway - 30 minutes
Liverpool Lime Street - 40 minutes

That was with a load of loco hauled coaches.

I think the likes of the 100mph Class 175, or even 90mph Class 158 could improve further on those times (3-5 minutes without any infrastructure changes).

Seriously hope the Halton Curve scheme(s) continue to develop momentum!

Still find it embarrassing that visitors from Ireland via Holyhead, South Wales travel all the way to Chester, before having to get a local stopping service to Liverpool, which is totally unsuitable and uncomfortable for long distance travellers with their luggage etc. Not to mention the students travelling back from Bangor.

Holyhead/Bangor-Llandudno Jn-Rhyl-Chester-Runcorn-Liverpool S Parkway-Liverpool Lime Street would be massively popular.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

RE: Special Workings & Charters
I thought that the main emphasis on the Halton link was services to and from Cardiff and Shrewsbury into Liverpool .

Since the Liverpool - Cardiff Central Marches Line service was stopped there has been a clamour for it to be reinstated in one way or another .

At Holyhead staff (if asked) advise passengers to change at Crewe for Liverpool.

The reality is, however, that many disregard that advice and continue via Hooton!

(Notwithstanding the fact that Holyhead-Liverpool via Crewe is not a permitted route, and the additional fare(s) required are quite pricey!)

Dorset Statesman from Hooton to Weymouth next Saturday departing 6am. Anyone know what's booked?

Don't see any Hooton departure in the 2015 Statesman Rail program.

RE: Special Workings & Charters
Hooton seems to be becoming a regular Charter Train departure point , im wondering whether it is because platform occupation is a major concern these days at Chester Station.

What with Merseyrail services using Platform 7 and Virgin Trains using Platform 3 a lot , it puts Network Rail under pressure if the train sits in the platform for any length of time .

Years back Chester had enough platforms for the work it had now it desperately needs a platform 8 .
