The other day I was on a pulsar on the 2 from Liverpool to Chester, which was pretty cold all the way. Later that day I got the 21 from Chester to Runcorn on one of those gas buses and it was absolutely roasting. The drivers have no control over the saloon heating on the new Enviros. Any Enviro from around 2009 the drivers cant control, can only control the demisters. |

So what your trying to say is that its an arbitrary decision to isolate the heating by the depot staff , April will be a prime example , no two days the same usually in that month some cold with need for heating , some warm days when the heating maybe intolerable if it is left on. |

I shall try and find out this week but i presume so. Ive drove ADL 200s and 300s and there is no way the driver can control the saloon heating. When it is on, the heat comes out of vents by the steps in the middle of the bus. You could definately control the older models though, the ones with the same dash as Arrivas 58 plate Enviro400s. |

Had rides on 4598, 4601, 4605 and 4608. Apart from a few rattles from the first of these, they were great and very warm indeed which was needed in today's savage cold. I did notice a few haven't yet received the internal adverts ("Posh and Double Decks" etc.).

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
As far as the heating is concerned, they're run by a thermostat. Once the ambient temperature drops below a certain level the heater motor kicks in. Then when an ambient temperature is reached it automatically switches off until the saloon cools down. Invariably this is when the bus opens its doors at stops. Judging by the Southport ones this system is quite effective. |

Well having had a short hop on 4599 this afternoon (just after 5pm), I can honestly that the heating is very effective. |
