The Wirral did get hit bad last night, and it wasnt just bus windows. Passengers getting egged when they were getting off the bus, a driver ended up in hospital. |

Yeah because of some total twits ( would like to use a stronger term but this will have to do ) in Claughton Village yesterday. Driver got egg shell in his eye and as a result now has a damaged Cornea. The people who do this irrespective of age deserve a good kicking or for the same to happen to them. These drivers provide a public service and NOT a target for stupid childish behaviour such as egg throwing at a bus. |

I don't see how bus passengers are getting blamed for buses having windows smashed. It is the mindless yobs that think this stupid Mischief Night is an excuse for a night of mindless vandalism. Tarring everyone with the same brush is not on. |

It'd be good if rather than simply patrolling the streets, Police officers jumped on and off buses more-so around this time of year, so the yobs think twice about targetting buses. And that way, if somebody was idiotic enough to still do something, then the driver could pull over and the police alight to deal with it and provide visibility in that area. It's one thing having vehicles egged and bricked - this is superficial damage that can be repaired (albeit at additional cost to the operator and passengers), but when passengers, and indeed drivers begin to be physically attacked when both alighting and onboard a vehicle, then that is an issue that needs to be seriously addressed. It isn't Arriva's or the operator's responsibility to provide security - they do that already with the CCTV covering all angles of the vehicle - it's the responsibility of the council and the Police to work more closely with the operators to provide a more visible Police presence. I assume that when Police officers are travelling by bus at any time, they can request the driver to pull over and allow them to alight if they see something that they need to attend?.. and if not, then this should certainly be allowed around Halloween and Bonfire night. Let's hope that things don't get too nasty over the next couple of weeks. Like I say, cosmetic damage to vehicles can be repaired with ease - but when people start getting attacked or injured, then that changes this 'mischief' into something all together more serious. |

Agreed, it was like in Woolton last night with a firework being thrown as well as various objects. Police could do with being employed more but they are not helped with the government cuts to their budgets. I find it ridiculous that these idiots think doing these things is ok. Thing is if one of their own got injured in one of these, attacks that would be the first to complain. |

Its obviously heavy projectiles like this that cause most of the 2000* passenger injuries caused by attacks annually. I think you know what I mean - egging a bus or smashing a window causes damage which can be repaired - obviously if a brick smashes a window AND then injures somebody, then the injury takes precedence over the damage, and the whole incident is a lot more serious than JUST a smashed window (which has it's own repercussions anyway) |

That is just ridiculous, the mentality of these yobs is incredible and you have to wonder why they think that doing this sort of thing is fun. I know that stagecoach stopped going to Kirkby town centre and Northwood last night due to this sort of thing. |

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
Stagecoach pulled out of Northwood ONLY due to the amount of damage being caused up there. 21s were terminating in Kirkby Town Centre. Every other route operated as normal in Liverpool as far as im aware. The police were working with Stagecoach and Arriva last night tailing the buses in unmarkd cars and vans. |

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
I was on a 412 a few years back, we got to park station and brick went through the window which was next to me causing damage to my nose. Everyone was shaken up completely, I remember the women on the back of the bus having a break down and ended up going to Arrowe Park in an ambulance! I don't know what goes through these little D***heads mind when they're putting the public in danger, I think they all have mental issues and need sorting or educating Follow me on flickr |
