TransPennine Express
RE: First Transpennine Express
There is a major weather incident beyond lancaster with all lines blocked from there northbound and from Lockerbie and Dumfries Southbound .

Think the reason for using preston as a rail terminating point is the amount of platforms that can be used and the amount of staff that dont have to struggle through the bad weather as well.

Yes the line beyond Preston is under several feet of water and some on track equipment needs repairing so no trains north of Preston until at least Monday 7th December

Isnt this Franchise now just a straight First franchise rather than a JV , which the last franchise was.

RE: First Transpennine Express
Next TransPennine Express franchise will be introducing brand new 5 car Intercity trains on all North TPE services which go via York and on all Scottish services. The 185s which will remain on South TPE and slower North TPE services will be refurbished. Existing Manchester Airport to York services will be extended to Newcastle, existing Liverpool to Newcastle services will be extended to Edinburgh and a new limited service between Liverpool and Glasgow via Preston will be introduced.

I do think Liverpool has always been poor relation when it comes to anglo Scottish services .

Is there any idea when these services could be introduced and if they are introduced will they travel via St Helens central or St Helens Junction .

Any further services operating via Huyton will probably have to wait the four tracking at Roby and Huyton , its presently only three tracks .

December 2018 for a Liverpool to Glasgow service, when they'll be 3 services per day. No idea on the exact route as they'll run non-stop to Preston.

It's just like the Liverpool - Newcastle service doesn't stop between Liverpool & Manchester - even Virgin Cross Country when they ran Liverpool - Scotland services stopped at Wigan & St Helens Central.
