Coincidentally, Transport Focus have just published this year's Passenger Survey results. These are based on (c.) 40000+ passengers across a large part of the country (outside London), and featuring 53 large or medium Operators, albeit most are subsidiaries of the "Big Five". A (very) cursory glance suggests Passengers are generally most satisfied in Nottingham and Merseyside and least satisfied in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. A big surprise given their opposing reputations from inception until about 4 years ago, is that Stagecoach Manchester actually score slightly lower than First Manchester! Perhaps more significantly - Stagecoach Manchester are ranked absolutely rock bottom of the 53 for "On bus journey times".
In the past, I have seen notes showing which individual services across the country are surveyed, and one year amongst the half dozen or so in GM was the 347 - so that indicates this is a proper survey of genuine "bread and butter" services that people rely on for their everyday transport needs - not some politically inspired survey influenced by activists/councillors in trendy south Manchester suburbs.
It is but not when passengers elsewhere are charged 3 times what passengers on the Magic services are charged.
