As already mentioned, there is the plans to introduce twenty new hydrogen powered double deckers for use on the 10A service between St. Helens and Liverpool, since the 10A is a QBP route, it's assumed that both Stagecoach and Arriva's St. Helens garage will receive ten each, with the hydrogen fuel facilities due to be built later in the year

Today, it has been reported that a £3.3 million plan has been approved to convert the engines of at least 200 buses, I'm presuming this will be on older buses since Arriva have at least 580+ buses and SCML having at least 400, I can't imagine buses such as the B5LH's between 2012 and 2017 or the MMC's getting conversions, though it could possibly be the nail in the coffin for aging Commanders, Cadets, and possibly the ALX400's but these are my assumptions.

AS the funding is from the City Council, I would presume that Arriva could just rotate buses around so that the older buses are kept out of the city. I would guess most of the funding will go on Pulsars, MANs, Scanias. Maybe even a small bit for HTL.
