I can't speak for everyone but I would say the Newcastle to Edinburgh trips should never have been introduced. They weren't really needed, there was plenty of existing passenger capacity on the ECML. It was never needed and merely there to extract revenue. Longer layovers at York on the Redcar services isn't very good either. The whole consultation is a bit stupid. Supposedly wanting to bring people back to the rail network and yet they are reducing the amount of trains which will make existing ones busier and especially things like the Manchester Airport link. Thanks to the train links, 17% of passengers going through the Airport, connect to/from the trains. |
