Within Merseyside, Ribble and Crosville services were limited as to where they could pick up and set down as was the the joint services between Birkenhead and Wallasey Corporations on the Wirral. Someone with a good memory will confirm that this was the case in Manchester. Yep pre PTEs, mostly Company buses, with Crosville in particular were heavily restricted into how they operated in Corporation areas often only being able to set own inward & pick up outward to/from a point on the edge of the Corporation operating area, when operating in a Corporation area. Wirral had a lot of waste because of Wallasey/Birkenhead & Crosville routes duplicating each other, that it took 10 years after the PTE was formed to finally integrate the old Corporation & Crosville services Once the PTE came in, they did away with the restrictions, but created limited stop instead, Merseyside was Merseyfare branded stops were Crosville stopped TFL has commercial routes into its area, they have an agreement to operate into the TFL area, most of the commercial routes are around Heathrow, & Uxbridge, although other commercial routes do operate to some of the other towns inside the TFL boundary My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |
