The difference being that til the early 90s neither bus diverted via Little Neston or West Vale. When that diversion was introduced, only the 23 from Willaston went via Mellock Lane , with both the 22 and 23 going via Greenfields and West Vale. This avoided buses going to same destination stopping on both sides of Mellock Lane.

The other difference is that only the 22 went via Parkgate, 23 going via Liverpool Road out of Neston.

Interesting booklet to see how things have changed over the years .

The changes to the 22 will result in the buses via Puddington and Burton picking up nobody in either locations , its a very orientated area now
