Rodgers has had an annoying trait all season of getting carried away when we string a couple of good results together. He talks the team or individual players up calling them 'world class' or 'best in the world' and invariably we then go on a miserable run and lose the very next game. It has happened a few times this year and ultimately has cost us valuable points.

The sad reality is that we've hardly progressed at all this season despite what the press would want you to believe. Some of our performances in dropping points, e.g. against Reading and Southampton recently, have been utterly abysmal and unforgivable for a side which has spent as much money as we have.

I'm afraid it just hasn't worked with Rodgers. People waffle on about progression and managers needing time, but there's a full season gone and we're nowhere. The Premiership has nosedived in terms of its quality and strength in recent seasons and it is now well behind Spain and Germany (and maybe even Italy) in those stakes. Liverpool though are still floundering in the table.

I was one of his detractors the first time round, but I honestly think we could do a lot worse than to give Rafa another try. His passion for the club has been obvious since his sacking and he'd surely jump at the chance to give it another go. We faded under his reign but there is always the possibility we can have the heady days of 2005 to 2007 again.
