RE: Merseyside Transport Trust
This message is specifically for John Salmon but other members may be interested. On MTT's Facebook page John has posted a photograph from the Liverpool Echo showing a group of children boarding a LCPT bus as they are being evacuated from the city at the outbreak of WW2 and queried the identity of said vehicle. According to my records the vehicle in question (FKB 358) is an AEC Regal III with Weyman frames but completed at Edge Lane. It entered service in March 1940 - just before the Blitz started, I believe - and was withdrawn in 1958. Positively ancient for a bus in those days! It did not receive a fleet number until May 1947 when it was given A170. Later in November 1956 it was given the x suffix when the Regent Vs were delivered. I hope this information is useful. |
