I can guarantee you 100% that your source is wrong (I would be interested to know who your source is). No contracts have yet been awarded.

There is a lot of speculation going around at the moment over which contracts have been won or lost. The truth is, no operator knows what the situation is yet. Once contracts are awarded the registrations will be placed and will appear in N&P as normal.

The majority of current arrangements were made for 13 weeks, although some contracts were awarded for longer.

Bear in mind that a lot of people read this site and any speculation which involves potential contract losses generates undue concern for both drivers and passengers.

Seeing as user GmBusesNorth actually works for one of the companies involved, it seems to me that their sources from the workplace are pretty much factual and not rumors. :P Also MX55FHB is another repaint at Bryn. Not long before all these B7RLES will be done - they look rather smart in their new livery me thinks!

And Chris works for SLT, correct me if I'm wrong Chris, dealing with all of their VOSA registrations etc. I'd say he's therefore probably pretty well informed too ;-)

chris does work for SLT as i was e.mailing him only a few days ago with regards to the 551 service, am certain he would know whats going on and am sure if he knew what was going on with regards to these tenders he would openly say. after all whats he going to gain by lying?

Whilst I don't deny that GMBusesNorth works for Stagecoach, as I've said before I am of the belief that he is 'frontline' staff - i.e. a driver, cleaner etc.

That's not to say that the information he gets is wrong, but its come down through a lot of management levels, so there's great opportunity for speculation/exaggeration etc to get added in.

I'm afraid I don't have any insight on the tenders, so it's just wait and see!

As for the 14 drivers, how would you like if you lost your job, due to the company going burst, got enother job, just to lose that job after only 3-months.

It's more expensive because if you bring fair trading into it, Stagecoach should (and maybe do...) have to bid a substantial high for a route compared to a local independent for them to be playing the game fairly. However, Stagecoach has a multi-national income so to keep a tender is like throwing pennies into a pool to them. It's only fair that local independents have a decent shot at it.

Then you have to bring in stuff like 'environmental impact' of the vehicles being used. It's easier for Stagecoach to bring in a Euro5 Enviro200 than it would be for the likes of SLT or Jim Stones. :P

I'm not talking on fact, just common sense really. It's all about fairness in business.

Accident involving a pedestrian and a Stagecoach hybrid bus near Piccadilly Gardens earlier today. The pedestrian's injuries aren't life-threatening, thankfully, so he should hopefully be alright.

Correct... and I now know the tender results and the 'source' of the previous information is wrong.

I'm not going to announce any results though, as that is up to the respective operators - the SLT results will be announced on the website once all of the paperwork has gone through the system.
