RE: Merseyrail
The service of other TOCs has nothing to do with it. Cancellations and poor service are becoming commonplace. As well as a number of recent disruptions to my commute in recent weeks, there is yet more reduced capacity as a six car circuit on the Southport line has stealthily been withdrawn as of last December without so much as a word to passengers. Add this to the loss of the West Kirby six car, two morning pairs on the Chester line and the removal of all Hooton line peak extras in recent years and we have a considerable drop in capacity. Not once was this publicly acknowledged, to at least give people a chance to plan their journeys around shortened, and now overcrowded, trains. My regular morning unit is now a three car and I'm forced to avoid it like the plague. Two of the three PM peak Ormskirk line trains were also short-formed today. All this whilst more and more 508s go for scrap with no immediate replacement. It is a disgrace.

RE: Merseyrail
Is there platform work taking place overnight at New Brighton station at the moment? I have noticed over the past few weeks the four units stabled on the platform overnight have shunted into the sidings. There used to be a 3 car unit stabled in siding 2, which worked 5N30 (from Chester line), and 5Y02 the following morning. However since the winter timetable came to an end, this seems now not to be the case. Does anyone know whether if this is due to the sidings being required for stabling of the New Brighton units? |
