Does this mean Thurstaston will lose its entire bus service? How much would it cost them to put another bus so the 80/82 can run hourly and the 81 half hourly

Public reaction hasn’t gone down too well

RE: Merseytravel: Bus service Consultations
Merseytravel aren’t half taking their time weighing up the responses for the Stagecoach 80/82 consolation.

I suggested instead of either option A or B, but kind of a mixture of the two. I suggested to have the 81 from option B, but have it run every 2 hours (and via Greenbank Road not Black Horse Hill), and have the 82 also extend to Arrowe Park via Montgomery Hill as like in option A, but also to run every 2 hours. This means the 80 can be kept hourly, and passengers to and from Arrowe Park have a greater choice of destination. It also means those in a Caldy aren’t left with a pointless circular route, but also the West Kirby - Newton corridor also has a service to Arrowe Park. It also makes the network look much more extensive which is a good idea when they’re cutting supported services left right and centre. The PVR is still 1 so wouldn’t cost any more. But I did suggest running an extra bus at about half 6 from the hospital, as 5.30 pm is far too early (the last 22 to West Kirby from Arrowe Park is about 6.30 pm)

Think they are wanting to computer map if by changing these routes they open more holes in the network elsewhere. This is really a sticking plaster , further down the line major treatment will be required .

The timetable is now online for the services, looks like they haven’t bothered updating the consolation page

They don’t bother to proofread the timetable either, a timing point on the 81 is Caldy Crossroads and it goes nowhere near there. Why run a circular around Caldy at 6pm, surely a late running to Arrowe Park is more useful

Unfortunately because only one bus is used to run all the services something has to give , i think that timetable is as good as your going to get with only one vehicle and keeping the other areas happy

Perhaps/hopefully the 80/81/82 will interwork with the 38 after these changes are brought in, with the vehicle arriving in West Kirby on the 38 at 54 past the hour going onto the 80/82 at 02 past the hour, then onto 81, a 5-minute gap, then back onto the 38 at 05 past the hour.
