I might be asking a stupid question here but are the vehicles being stabled somewhere in the Manchester area or are they coming down from Blackpool everday?

According to VOSA, the company's operating centre is still Darwen. Mind you, the transport manager is still listed as Paul Ryder who resigned as a director last September and the record still shows the Easi Rider name - it has had the name Wedding Buses Limited as well since then! About time the TC looked into this.

At least with Ashalls Leyland Leopard, that was one open topper not the result of a low bridge accident......

This is the same as, what Stagecoach are doing with their Open-Top tours in Chester, Cambridge and Newcastle-upon-Tyne

An exemption applies for tourist routes so operators can refuse to offer ENCTS discounts/free travel if they operate a tourist route. However, the definition of a tourist route is murky.

If a bus service is registered but is a tourist service, then it is exempt from fuel duty rebates. Likewise, on tourist services, concessions can be exempt from free travel.

It isn't really the operator refusing, rather the local authority can exclude the routes from being valid for reimbursement. My understanding is that registering such a route has the advantage of not requiring drivers to use tachographs.

I doubt the 24 will be withdrawn, it certainly seems to get good loads and has just benefited from the acqusition of 3 Optare Versas so I assume Catch22 are happy with it.
