I reckon these new deckers are built at the ADL Scarborough factory at Plaxton Park, so I'm pretty certain these new E400MMCs will be registered there, having YX (Yorkshire) indexes.

Anyway, at least two of them are at Bootle Depot today, ready for service next week on route 55.
No ARRIVA decals or legals (yet), but one of them has a reg plate (YX17 NFJ).

Heard a possibility that these new MMC's could be used on the Wirral line rail replacements as there is a 3 week full closure from this weekend.....anyone know if that's the case??

Ive heard some could be out tommorow or over the weekend but dont think they are needed on the rail as the hybrid gemini 3's are going back to birkenhead.
Ive heard 25 from speke and 5 from green lane will be used.

Two have had decals applied and are numbered 4694 and 4695 (can't remember regs sorry).

I'm quite surprised that these new Enviro400MMC deckers have entered traffic so soon, as I thought drivers would have needed Type Training on them. I say this because they seem to have Stop-Start Technology on them- 4697 (YX17 NFM) certainly has SST as it stalls at traffic lights.

The only criticism I have of them is that the top deck view is obstructed by a huge CCTV monitor, so the original Enviro400 design is better in this respect.

Makes me wonder what'll happen now to 2708 (X708 DBT) B10BLE/Renown, talking of which, it seems grossly inefficient compared to these new E400MMCs, having a kerbweight of 10480kg for just 44 seats!
The new MMCs have 77 E-Leather seats and are very light at just 10645kg.
Impressive!
