Burnley & Rossendale services

Service 7 Rawtenstall – Newchurch – Bacup – Todmorden ROS Leaflet

From 4th January 2021 Lancashire County Council will introduce this new service, restoring the direct link through the Rossendale Valley between Rawtenstall, Bacup and Todmorden, replacing the withdrawn Service 8 between Bacup and Todmorden.

This will also incorporate the dedicated school day Service 800, linking Rossendale with Todmorden High School, which the county council replaced in September 2020.

Service 7 will operate between Rawtenstall, Bacup and Todmorden via Newchurch, Waterfoot, Stacksteads Booth Road, Britannia New Line, Bacup Pennine Road and Sharneyford.

The service will operate generally every two hours during Monday to Saturday daytime. In conjunction with Service 10 the frequency between Rawtenstall and Newchurch will increase from every hour up to every 30 minutes at certain times during Monday to Saturday daytime.

Service 8 Burnley – Burnley Wood – Weir – Bacup ROS Leaflet

From 4th January 2021 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable to operate between Burnley and Bacup and enhance the frequency, increasing the number of journeys between these two towns.

In Burnley, the service will additionally serve Burnley Wood, replacing Service 15A in this area. In Bacup, all journeys will loop Pennine Road enhancing the link with the town centre.

The service will operate generally every hour during Monday to Saturday daytime.

There will continue to be the dedicated school day service between Burnley, Weir, Bacup and The Valley Leadership Academy, which will be renumbered Service 808.

The section between Bacup and Todmorden will be replaced by new Service 7.

Rossendale Local Services ROS Leaflet

Service 10 Rawtenstall – Newchurch – Edgeside

Service 11 Rawtenstall – Haslingden – Helmshore Circular

Service 12 Rawtenstall – Balladen Circular

Service 13 Rawtenstall – New Hall Hey Retail Park Circular

From 4th January 2021 Lancashire County Council will revise the timetable, introducing minor adjustments to interwork with the rest of the service network.

Transdev Rosso will operate these local bus Services 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 on behalf of Lancashire County Council. The services will be branded as Rossendale Rovers to help develop the services role as feeders to the wider bus service network including their other services the 464, Witchway and IrwellLine.

Transdev Rosso will be using a modern fleet for Services 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 using newer accessible midibuses equipped with free Wi-Fi, USB power and Audio Visual next stop announcements. A larger bus will be used for the Todmorden service to facilitate student movements. Integrated ticketing and contactless payments will be available across the whole network.

Service 15 Burnley – Rose Hill Circular LCC Leaflet 5

From 4th January 2021 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, adjusting all journeys to operate as Service 15. Service 15A via Burnley Wood will be replaced by revised Service 8.

The service will be standardised to operate every 30 minutes throughout the route during Monday to Saturday daytime.

Pilkingtonbus will continue to operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

May's Service Changes (mainly Transdev gaining contract work in Pendle and Ribble areas)

The timetable will be amended along with a couple of route alterations to improve overall service reliability. In Colne, between the town centre and Birtwistle Avenue, the route will operate direct via Langroyd Road and Windy Bank then operate the loop around the Venables Avenue and Castle Road section. This will offer customers from the wider area more direct journeys, whilst maintaining access to a bus service for all the residential communities as currently served. In Nelson, between the Interchange and Hill Place, the route will operate more direct via Hibson Road, with Chapel House Road being served by the new Service 69.

This service will continue to link Colne, Nelson and Burnley town centres via Boundary Mill, Marsden Park, General Hospital & Lower Manor Estate.

New Service 6S will operate Sundays and Bank Holidays to provide daily public transport access for the majority of the route between Colne and Nelson.

The service will operate every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and the new hourly Sunday and Bank Holiday daytime Service 6S will also be introduced.

Service 14 Burnley – Clifton Farm Circular
The county council will revise the timetable, enhancing the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency from an hourly service to every 30 minutes and introduce a Sunday service.

This service will continue to link Lakeland Way and Clifton Farm estate with Burnley town centre.

The service will operate every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and a new hourly Sunday and Bank Holiday daytime service will also be introduced.

Service 15 Burnley – Rose Hill Circular
The county council will revise the timetable to introduce a Sunday service.

This service will continue to link Rose Hill and Moorland Road areas with Burnley town centre.

The service will operate every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and a new hourly Sunday and Bank Holiday daytime service will also be introduced.

Service 64 Burnley – Padiham – Sabden – Whalley – Clitheroe
The county council will revise the timetable, enhancing the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency from a two hourly service to every hour and introduce a Sunday service.

This service will continue to link Burnley and Clitheroe via Sycamore Avenue, Lowerhouse, Padiham, Sabden, Whalley and Barrow Brook.

The service will operate every hour during Monday to Saturday daytime and the new Sunday and Bank Holiday daytime service will operate every two hours.

Service 65 Burnley – Padiham – Higham – Fence – Nelson
The county council will revise the route and timetable, adjusting the route in Padiham to additionally serve the St. John's Road area of the town. The route between Fence and Nelson will also be revised to operate via Lomeshaye instead of Service 66, improving journey times throughout the route.

This service will continue to link Burnley and Nelson via Sycamore Avenue, Lowerhouse, Padiham, Higham, Fence and Lomeshaye.

The service will operate generally every two hours during Monday to Saturday daytime and in conjunction with Service 66, maintain the hourly service between Fence and Nelson. In conjunction with Service 64 the frequency between Burnley, Sycamore Avenue and Lowerhouse will increase from every hour up to every 30 minutes at certain times during Monday to Saturday daytime.

Service 66 Clitheroe – Chatburn – Barley – Fence – Barrowford – Nelson
Service 67 Clitheroe – Chatburn – Barley – Blacko – Barrowford – Nelson
The county council will revise the route and timetable, better coordinating both services to maintain the direct service over Pendle between Clitheroe and Nelson and introduce a Summer Sunday service.

On the Nelson side, both routes will now serve Barrowford and Nelson & Colne College, and on the Ribble Valley side the services will maintain the regular bus services for those rural communities between Barley and Clitheroe.

Key journeys serving Clitheroe schools will continue to be maintained within the limited capacities of the vehicles required to access the route.

These services will continue to link Clitheroe and Nelson via Waddington, West Bradford, Grindleton, Chatburn, Downham, Barley, Newchurch & Fence (66) or Roughlee & Blacko (67), Barrowford and Nelson & Colne College.

New Service 66S will initially operate Summer Sundays and Bank Holidays from April to October to establish demand, with an adjusted route between Fence and Nelson to offer daily public transport access for the majority of the route.

The services will each operate generally every two hours, combining to operate every hour, during Monday to Saturday daytime over common sections, and the new Summer Sunday and Bank Holiday daytime Service 66S will operate every two hours.

Service 68 Nelson – Barrowford – Colne
The county council will introduce this new service to provide a direct link between Nelson, Barrowford and Colne. In Colne, it will replace the withdrawn Service 95A for Alkincoats and South Valley Drive.

Service 68 will operate between Nelson and Colne via Carr Hall, Business Village, Barrowford, Alkincoats and Colne extending through to South Valley Drive.

The service will operate every hour during Monday to Saturday daytime.

Service 69 Nelson – Brierfield – General Hospital
The county council will introduce this new service to replace the withdrawn Service 95A on this section.

Service 69 will operate between Nelson and General Hospital (Casterton Avenue) via Chapel House Road, Kings Causeway, Brierfield centre and Chatburn Park.

The service will operate every hour during Monday to Saturday daytime.

Service 95A Colne – Marsden Park – Nelson – Brierfield – Hospital
The county council will replace this service, with the majority of the route being incorporated within the enhanced Service 6 frequency. The section between Nelson, Brierfield & Burnley General Hospital will be replaced with new Service 69 and Alkincoats & South Valley Drive in Colne will be incorporated within the new Service 68.

Transdev's The Burnley Bus Company
Transdev's The Burnley Bus Company will operate all these local bus services on behalf of the county council. The services will be branded as Pendle & Ribble to help develop the services role as feeders to the wider bus service network including Transdev's other local core commercial services The Mainline, The Hotline, Witchway and Pendle Wizz.

The Burnley Bus Company will be introducing a modern fleet across all the area's tendered network, with accessible buses equipped with free Wi-Fi, USB power and audio visual next stop announcements. Integrated ticketing and contactless payments will be inter-available throughout both the commercial and tendered local bus service network.

Preston, South Ribble, Chorley & West LancashireServices
Service 111 Preston – Lostock Hall – Leyland – Eccleston – Standish – Wigan
The county council, in partnership with Stagecoach, will revise the route and timetable, extending the service through from Leyland to Wigan replacing Service 113 over this section.

The Monday to Saturday daytime service will operate as normal between Preston and Leyland Moss Side, then extend hourly from Leyland through to Wigan via Eccleston, Heskin, Wrightington Bar, Shevington Moor and Standish.

This more direct service between Preston, Leyland and Wigan will significantly improve journey times for those passengers travelling over the longer distances.

The section between Shevington Moor, Standish and Wigan will be revised to operate via Rectory Lane and Chorley Road and continue to be operated in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester.

Service 113 Preston – Bamber Bridge – Leyland – Eccleston – Wigan
The county council will withdraw this service and it will be replaced by the extension to Service 111 between Leyland and Wigan, in partnership with Stagecoach, and by the new enhanced Service 153 between Preston and Leyland.

Service 153 Preston – Gregson Lane – Bamber Bridge – Tardy Gate – Leyland
The county council will introduce this new service replacing the withdrawn Service 113 between Preston and Leyland.

This new service will operate between Preston and Leyland via Higher Walton, Gregson Lane, Bamber Bridge, Tardy Gate, Lancashire Enterprise Park, Leyland Broadfield and Earnshaw Bridge.

With the funding support from the housing development on Brindle Road and investment of the county council, the Monday to Saturday daytime service frequency will be enhanced from hourly to every 30 minutes across the whole route, along with some additional early evening journeys.

A new hourly Sunday service between Preston and Bamber Bridge will also be introduced.

Transdev Rosso will operate this service on behalf of the county council. In conjunction with Transdev's commercial Hotline Service 152, the service frequency between Preston and Higher Walton will be enhanced further, offering an improved coordinated service for customers in this area. Integrated ticketing will be inter-available on both the tendered Service 153 and the commercial Service 152.

Stagecoach restoring normal timetables on most of their Preston routes from the end of August, although the 125 will remain on a reduced frequency for a few more weeks due to "driver availability issues".

Meanwhile, the 59 will have an increased Monday-Saturday daytime frequency of every 20 minutes and Monday-Saturday evening journeys introduced, while most journeys are extended from Blackburn to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

From 4 September Stagecoach in Cumbria & North Lancashire will reinstate the full service following the end of the school holidays.

Service 100 Heysham – Morecambe – Lancaster – Lancaster University (STL Leaflet)

From 4 September Stagecoach in Cumbria & North Lancashire will revise the Monday to Saturday daytime timetable, restoring the frequency back up to every 15 minutes following the end of the school holidays. Evenings and Sunday services are unchanged.

Preston Services
Stagecoach Revisions

From 4 September Stagecoach in Merseyside & South Lancashire will revise the following services:

Service 1/1A Preston – Ribbleton – Grimsargh – Longridge

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, restoring the frequency of Service 1 back up to every 10 minutes with Service 1A continuing to operate every 30 minutes. Evenings and Sunday services are unchanged.

Service 8A Chorley – Lower Adlington – Blackrod

This service will be withdrawn with most of the route being replaced by the new Service 127 (see below for details). With the new Service 127 operating direct between Chorley and Adlington, the section of route through Limbrick will no longer be served.

Service 9 Preston – Moor Nook

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, amending the frequency back to every 30 minutes following the reopening of Brockholes Brow and Service 59 resuming serving New Hall Lane.

Service 59 Preston – Blackburn – Royal Blackburn Hospital

Following the reopening of Brockholes Brow, the service will resume its normal route in and out of Preston along New Hall Lane.

Service 61 Preston – Kirkham - Blackpool

The Monday to Friday daytime timetable will be revised, with adjustments to AM College journeys. A number of Monday to Saturday Evening journeys will also be adjusted.

Service 68 Preston – Lytham St Annes – Blackpool

The Monday to Friday daytime timetable will be revised, with adjustments to AM College journeys. The Monday to Saturday Evening timetable will be enhanced to provide an even hourly service.

Service 109 Preston – Leyland – Chorley

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, restoring the frequency back up to every 30 minutes. Evenings and Sunday services are unchanged.

Service 111 Preston – Leyland – Moss Side

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, restoring the frequency back up to every 12 minutes. The Monday to Saturday later evening departures at 2305 from Preston and 2344 from Seven Stars will be restored.

Service 125 Preston – Chorley – Bolton

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, restoring the frequency back up to every 12 minutes. Evenings and Sunday services are unchanged.

Service 127 Chorley – Lower Adlington – Blackrod – Middlebrook

This new Monday to Saturday off-peak service will partially replace the withdrawn Service 8A, extending the service beyond Blackrod through to Middlebrook Retail Park.

Service 280 Preston – Clitheroe – Skipton (STG Leaflet)

Following the reopening of Brockholes Brow, the service will resume its normal route in and out of Preston along New Hall Lane.

Preston Bus Revisions

From 5 September Rotala Preston Bus will revise the following services:

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, adjusting the evening service to operate hourly, together with some minor adjustments to early morning journeys.

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, adjusting the evening service to operate hourly, together with amending Sunday evening journeys.

Service 19 Preston – Deepdale – Royal Preston Hospital (PBT Leaflet)

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, adjusting the evening service to operate hourly, together with some minor adjustments to early morning journeys.

Service 23 Preston – Fulwood – Royal Preston Hospital – Asda (PBT Leaflet)

The timetable will be revised, adjusting times to improve overall service reliability during the Ringway Roadworks. As a result, daytime frequencies will be adjusted as follows:

As a result, daytime frequencies will be adjusted, on Monday to Saturday to every 30 minutes and on Sunday to hourly. Times will be coordinated with Service 44, where possible, on common sections between Preston and Ashton.

Service 44 Preston – Ingol – Cottam (PBT Leaflet)

The timetable will be revised, adjusting times to improve overall service reliability during the Ringway Roadworks. Times will be coordinated with Service 31, where possible, on common sections between Preston and Ashton. This service continues to operate in partnership with Lancashire County Council.

Service 100 Larches – Preston – Farringdon Park (PBT Leaflet)

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, adjusting some early morning journeys.

West Lancashire Services
Service EL1 Ormskirk – Edge Hill University Shuttle

From 12 September Stagecoach in Merseyside & South Lancashire will revise the timetable, extending Wednesday night service for an additional two hours until midnight.

Chorley Services
Service 118 Chorley – Lower Burgh (LCC Leaflet 19)

From 4 September RS Tyrer Ltd, on behalf of Lancashire County Council, will revise the Monday to Friday timetable, adjusting the last couple of journeys after 1800 to operate up to 10 minutes later.

Service 119 Preston – Leyland – Chorley (LCC Leaflet 19)

From 4 September RS Tyrer Ltd, on behalf of Lancashire County Council, will revise the Monday to Friday timetable, adjusting journeys after 1500 to operate up to 10 minutes later. This is to enable students from Chorley Parklands High School to use the PM journeys.

Burnley Services
Service M3/M4/M5 Burnley – Nelson – Colne – Barnoldswick/Trawden/Keighley (BPT Leaflet)

From 4 September The Burnley Bus Company will revise the timetable, adjusting the Sunday timetable to operate every 20 mins between Burnley and Colne, then extending every hour onto Barnoldswick, Trawden or Keighley.

Service X43 Burnley – Rawtenstall - Manchester (BPT Leaflet)

From 4 September The Burnley Bus Company will revise the route and timetable, adjusting service times to improve overall service reliability. Other revisions will be as follows:

Additional journeys at peak to cater for increasing passenger demand;
Friday & Saturday late night journeys re-introduced;
Route change in Manchester City Centre to operate via Cross Street and St Mary’s Gate outbound, subject to the TRO being approved;
Change to limited stop conditions – the fast journeys via Rochdale Road will now serve all stops between Burnley and Rawtenstall. No change to stopping arrangements between Rawtenstall and Manchester.

Rossendale Services
Service 464 Accrington – Haslingden – Rawtenstall – Bacup – Rochdale (ROS Leaflet)

From 4 September Rosso will revise the timetable, introducing some minor timing amendments to improve punctuality and reliability as well as adjusting some journeys.
