heres a question for anyone from oldham any idea why 409`s from oldham to ashton are operating via hurst cross today just been to the shops(asda) and saw 4 different 409 buses with 409 ashton then returning from ashton with either sorry nis or blank displays has something gone on on oldham road as i know there are roadworks at mcr road and mumps today but nothing on the 409 route
any ideas???????

Building fire resulting in a road closure according to BBC Travel News:

A627 Greater Manchester - A627 Ashton Road in Ashton-Under-Lyne closed and slow traffic in both directions between the Park Bridge Road junction and the Knott Lanes junction, because of a building fire. Diversion in operation - via local routes.

The fire was at a mill near Recipharm (Oldham/Tameside border). Did wonder which way the 409 would run to get between Oldham and Ashton.

Not that I'm aware of. Think the only routes that have route branding are 36/37, 58/59, 81/81A, 135, 180/184, 409 and 471.

I don't think 471's are branded, they use newly painted B9TL's with the odd scania omnicity (the ones painted in the new livery), I'll have a look tomorrow to see if they are or not.

Also in recent days I've had leaflets posted through my door in the newspaper (we get two Advertisers off two different deliverer's every Thursday, I haven't a clue why) but in one it was 'Personal Bus Service 348' and the other, 'Personal Bus Service 425'.

Now I hate to burst First's bubble here, but I live 3 and a half miles away from where the 348 passes, at it's closest point, meanwhile I live ~100 yards from the 425.

Also, they've delivered leaflets about these services being 'Personal Bus Services' so how come they on the website yet? We can't use the 'They're not branded' excuse because the 162/3 isn't branded and that's on there. I think personally they're getting lazy again.

Did see a branded bus on the 162 this afternoon but it was for the 58/59 (37462).
