RE: Halton Transport
Sonds like somthing is going on at halton then, maybe this is them returning to the great operator it once was. So its probably going to be more minibuses will they be new or used? Also enviro200 are metioned so how many are we thinking? Will they start buying them in 4s like the MCVs???? Or will these just be replacements for the Marshall capitals? As to the question of new routes, I can think of quite a few areas of widnes and runcorn not servered by haltons network, upton rocks, hale village to name a few west bank isnt served by much nowadays and isnt included on the 26 because it would make that particular service a little bit to long but I am sure halton would opt to run the 26 there if iit could so maybe somthing new for that area?? As for runcorn nothing really serves halton village, and round near runcorn docks were there is on going housing developments meaning more people to serve. I think a runcorn circular is out of the question as I think arrivas got that covered pretty well. Comment back with your thoughts. Sorry for the sa.

26/26A now serve Upton Rocks, replacing the WCM 13. Smile
26 won't be serving West Bank due to low numbers that used the original service (there was a 2, 14 and 26, shows how times change!), plus it makes the 26/A over an hour, as aposed to the current 52-60 minutes running time, and so it would disrupt the hourly timetabling.

Halton won't do anything silly to upset arriva as you say, so there presence in Runcorn is likely to be of a simular proportion or minute like the "Poundrider 123".

Arr yes, It does me still thinking onld 26 really Smile. So I surpose looking at it, halton is pretty much covered. Were would you think they would put in place new routes? Maybe somthing between Warrington and Liverpool? But that would probably rule out minis, so thats maybe were the enviro200s would come in but I surpose thats just one of the possibles. Prehaps they are buying new buses just to replace the older vechiles (Darts 71-79) as they have been showing real signs of age and there have been a lot of break downs recently. I have recorded 2 myself in the past 4 weeks and I havent been out much. The newer darts (20-32) are in quite a good way so with a repaint and LEDs they should be fine and wouldnt expect to see them leavig service for another 4 or 5 years atleast.

RE: Halton Transport
The article that I mentioned in last weeks bus & coach buyer said that Halton would be taking 4 enviro 200's, they also want smaller buses to go into place where a larger bus is difficult to get around.

RE: Halton Transport
In an Ideal world I'd expand like:

17/17A St Helens to Widnes extended to Runcorn Halton Lea/Murdishaw via Castlefields
??? Warrington to Widnes via Hough Green or Farnworth (Replacing the short 14's)
82B Widnes Green Oaks to Liverpool via Hale, Speke, Aigburth, Dingle.

#73,75,76 are personal favorites quality wise, #72 is pretty good for speed too

Personally, I cannot see Halton wanting to do any major changes in services in the current financial climate. Just occasional changes to serve any new housing developments, and tweaking frequencies / running times to reflect changes in passenger loadings and/or traffic conditions. And presumably bidding for any contracted work that they think could be viable.

The Widnes - Runcorn section of 14 was withdrawn not too long ago, so I don't imagine they consider there is current potential for any more cross-river services.

RE: Halton Transport
Looking a little further ahead, work will start in earnest on the Mersey Gateway by the end of the year, so there will be some major disruption during the construction phases on both sides of the river.

Once finished the Silver Jubile bridge closes for up to two years whilst it is re-built.
