There's no need for it these days however; operators such as Stagecoach who have a national numbering scheme use that instead. |

Does that mean that, for example, ADE17 of London United is unique & another London Bus company is not allowed to use 17 as a fleet number or could there be another ***17 owned by, eg, Sullivan Buses? |

Not at all - numbers are used over and over again both within a particular fleet and by other fleets. For example, currently in the Go-Ahead single deck fleet there is HOV1, MEC1, OS1, SE1, SEN1, SO1, SOC1, SOE1. In the Arriva single deck fleet there is DWL1, EN1, ENL1, ENS1, ENX1, MET1. In the Hackney Community Transport single deck fleet there is BT1, DA1, DCS1, DE1, DP1, DPS1, HDC1, LFO1, OS1. Notice that fleet number OS1 crops up with two different operators and both are Optare Solos - the Go-Ahead being an 8.8m whilst the HCT one is a 9.5m version. All very confusing for us Londoners. With route 193 being one of the routes of the operation to be sold from First to Go-Ahead on June 22nd, this is its first change of operator since it was taken up by Eastern National on the first day of London bus tendering, July 13th 1985. EN was privatised, taken over by Badgerline then First, and in the meantime it was transferred to Thamesway then First London, but this is still the first time route 193 has changed operator since 1985. Route 173 was taken up by Grey Green on February 28th 1987 and has remained with GG or successors Arriva, now owned by Deutsche Bahn. Will it stay with Arriva indefinitely? Time will tell. |

Borismaster's LT9-LT40 have entered service on the 24, most carry LTZ10** registrations matching the fleetnumber although a few are LK13***. There will be 608 Borismaster's by the end of 2016, all will be registered LTZ1001-LTZ1608 (including existing one's re-registered). As some VWs from route 24 (and 52, displaced by VWHs off route 24) are due to convert route 245, this will give an ex-First garage, Alperton, some real Metroline buses. White-on-black bus blinds have been fitted to Tridents at Stagecoach Bromley and Volvo B9TLs at Go-Ahead Stockwell, at least on examples transferred from Merton with route 249. |

The white on black blinds have also appeared on Alexander Dennis Dart slf's and Enviro200's with London United at Fulwell on routes 33 and 419. Does anyone know the reason for their re-appearence? TBH don't know why TfL can't accept the electronic LED's Lothian are using at the moment? |
