RE: 2013/14 Football Season

Many people support teams because they were from that city (which is true for a lot of red and blue fans on here I assume) and really couldn't care less about the bullcrap that goes on behind the curtain. The English National Team is vastly overrated by the home media anyway and are nowhere near the level of teams such as Spain, Italy, Germany and so on. So you don't care that the Premiershit Cartel is permanently damaging grass roots football in this country, and therefore the game's long term viability? |

No because football doesn't interest me as much as it obviously interests you. I follow it more passingly as I have things of a higher priority. All I know is football on the whole is full of politics from here all the way to FIFA and that will probably never change. There has been match fixing allegations again this week which have gone pretty much unspoken of here, all of which seems to be happening in leagues under the Premiership. Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

Seems that english football now at risk of being dragged into same kind of corruption morass as cricket, snooker and overseas footie. |

No brainier for every supporter of every football club, but as we haven ' t managed it in over 140 years of existence, and there is absolutely bobbins chance of it ever happening in the next 140 years under the current system, its an irrelevant question in the context of this discussion. however, we do get an occasional tilt at Premiershit opposition. Only lost by single goal to the eventual FA cup winners in 4th round last season after beating Cardiff City in 3rd round, and the season before that we took Bolton Wanderers to a reply. No inverted snobbery here as I still bought my season ticket for our one season in league 1 in the late 1990's when we played the likes of Manchester City, Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Stoke City, as I do now we are back in non-league and playing the likes of Braintree, Salisbury and Hyde. Still loyal, still love the game, but fear of its future unless we wake-up and stop the Premiershit Cartel sucking an ever increasing share of money out of the English game. Not just my opinion, but shared by academics and financial experts. |

That's still not a proper answer though, is it? All I can say regarding the politics is it's hardly rosy in the garden in other European leagues. La Liga is arguably the world's best football league alongside the Bundesliga, yet the almost obscene wealth and TV dominance of Barca and Real is causing real suffering amongst the smaller teams.

La Liga proportionately hands over three times as much money to support the game in Spain than the Premiershit does for the English game. The amount the Bundesliga gives is even greater but I don't have the exact figures to hand. Yet the Premiershit Cartel continues to be allowed to bully the English game into accepting a smaller share year on year, and is allowed to poach and steal young players from junior clubs with little or no consequence or compensation. Not politics but fact. Another disturbing Fact is that actual participation in football in this country is now showing year on year decline, the speed of which is somewhat masked by the increase in female football participation, yet in Spain and Germany it is increasing. Not politics, facts. All we ask is for the Premiershit Cartel be stopped from bullying the rest of English football into eventual oblivion, and hand over the share of TV income that was promised when they broke away, but was ripped-up after just two seasons and has never been restored. Indeed, they have cut it further with each new tv contract despite the value of the dels increasing. Not politics, fact. On a brighter note, we won again today, and the two Sheffield Wednesday scouts that sat in front of me never stopped tapping their iPads - I remember the days that a notebook and pencil sufficed. |
