I Think its something like if its a UK Manufacturer (Wright,ADL,Optare) they can produce upto 350 E5 Vehicles,if its out of UK (Volvo,Scania,VDL) They can only produce 20 But im not 100% certain on it |

OK please explain - I was under the impression that National Small Series Type Approval (NSSTA) was being used to circumnavigate the Euro6 requirements. If this is the case and I have misunderstood the terms of this scheme I am happy to be corrected. http://www.dft.gov.uk/vca//vehicletype/n...series.asp And here is route-one's summery of Euro5 derogation "Derogation is potentially messy and complex, but in short, any single-stage (e.g. integral) or multi-stage (e.g. bodyon- chassis) vehicle must have a valid COC (Certificate of Conformity) issued before 30 September if the vehicle is to be derogated for registration next year. Chassis built after this date need to be registered before 31 December. Derogated Euro 5 vehicles can be registered up to 30 June 2015; this includes Stage 1 of multi-stage construction. Single-stage (integrals) have to be registered by June 2014. However, funding vehicle production will be the ultimate constraint as to how many vehicles will be available. An alternative is the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) or National Small Series Type Approval (NSSTA) route. The UK has not issued the required statutory regulation to update IVA/NSSTA to require Euro 6 engines. Therefore, it is possible to produce Euro 5 vehicles. There is no plan to update the process before mid-2014, but this is not fixed. Any change would usually be preceded by a consultation, legal papers and notification period, a process taking 12 months minimum and the process has not yet started. However, the Department for Transport (DfT) could ‘rush’ it through, so there’s no guarantee. Certainly for the first half of 2014 it will be possible to purchase Euro 5 buses via the NSSTA or IVA routes. This is more costly (around £750) than European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA), but cheaper than Euro 6." |

(18/03/2014 20:32)126th street Wrote: It depends on what variant they order. If they go for Euro 5 they will be the current design and if they plump for Euro 6 then it will be the revised example, a la the disguised one that has been seen already. Alexander Dennis have a product brochure for the Euro VI (or Euro 6) Enviro400 on their website, and it is the same general design as the Euro V bus, with the differences such as the extended overhang already seen on prototypes MX12EOC and SN63VTX. The brochure is here: http://www.alexander-dennis.com/wp-conte...cation.pdf. I could be misunderstanding you here, but by 'disguised one', I think you mean the rather ugly brute we saw a photo of some months ago. The product brochure, however, implies that at least early orders for Euro VI Enviro400s will not be that disguised 'facelifted' design, but rather the same appearance as the prototypes.

RE: Arriva's 2013-15 Orders
507009 is right - the facelift of the Enviro400 is separate from the change from euro5 to euro6. The 'new' Enviro400 is expected to be unveiled around May time, so until then any order for euro6 Enviro400s will be the current model. |

RE: Arriva's 2013-15 Orders
Further news here from the North East: The order for 8 Pulsars for Jesmond for service 306 is now 8 Streetlite Max 'Mirco-Hybrid', along with the 5 for Durham plus an additional 2 for Ashington for service 35/35a. The 6 Enviro400s for the X18 will now be to the new 'Arriva Max' specification which is e-leather seats and Wi-Fi (so is broadly a step down from 'Sapphire').
