RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
Oh yeah I was aware of the night tenders, was thinking if Solo's were brought in specifically it would be for daytime tenders. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
The CX58 reg Solos were initially brought in for the 312 and 37/38/356. They were brought in based upon loadings recorded over the much quieter summer period for the 37/38/356 though meaning that they were even unsuitable for that as soon as the loadings got back to normal. They were brought in under poor planning and observations but I certainly think they have a place on the 35/A on which a full size bus or even a Dart is wasted. Not to mention wasted fuel with a bigger/older vehicle. As has been said, their allocation to the 10/A (10A particularly) is hardly the worst thing as far as allocations go given the frequent nature of the service. Again as per an already given example, their allocation to 352/395s or daytime 89s would be much worse. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
Just out of interest does the 10 interwork with the 10A? If 10A is standalone and IMHO the more busier of the two it'd make sense to have double decks on the 10A and all other routes on the Prescot Road corridor singles a bit like the 79/79D and the 79C set up. It would solve many of the overcrowding problems this corridor has and ideally 10/10A and even at a push 10B do need some form of double deck capacity on there. |

Not sure if it's of relevant interest but there was a Dart parked in the lay-by on Carr Mill road just now, the front panel was missing as if being made ready to tow. I rushed to get my binoculars to get its fleet number but it had driven off Wigan bound. |

The 10 doesn't interwork with the 10A, at least not regularly during the day. When 4206 and 4207 were used on the 10 and 10A on the same day a few weeks ago, they stuck with one route throughout the day. I think you're right to suggest the 10A is the busier of the two, with a 6 minute combined service as opposed to the 10's 12 minute service. That isn't to say that the 10 buses aren't equally overcrowded both on and off peak though. It has been mentioned in this thread that double deckers are likely to be ordered next year to cover both the 10 and 10A routes in full. This would give the route (and the Prescot Road corridor) the capacity improvement it has been crying out for.

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
Is there a reason why 2800 seems to dislike 320 route as when it was originally at St Helens it spent most if not all of its time on 320s and seemed to regularly brake down somewhere along the route and by coincidence it was on 320s this week and broke down again, yet (correct me if I'm wrong) its been on other routes and not broken down |
