That was the only line open. Chat Moss was closed. SD. |

Severe disruption between Liverpool Wigan/Earlestown due to vandalism at Broaf Green. |

RE: Northern Rail
what form did the vandalism take ? |

RE: Northern Rail
Not heard anything official but heard from a fellow would-be passenger that they had heard it was copper wire damage. |

RE: Northern Rail
With so many people working lineside at the moment in that locality it must be hard for network rail to differentiate between contractors and people who shouldn't be there if they are in network rail colours. I thought we had maybe passed the point where copper thefts had dropped but seemingly not. |

RE: Northern Rail
Northern Rail is from 8th September to introduce an afternoon peak hour on trains travelling into/out of the TfGM area, West Yorkshire PTE, South Yorkshire PTE and on the Newcastle to Hexham PTE. The changes affect not just Northern Rail but all other operators in these areas. All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

RE: Northern Rail
What does the government expect to get from this though this a stifling of demand , what you will find is that most people travelling in the peak hour are already using higher priced tickets from the morning peak period , another thing you will find is that the trains at the start of the evening peak and also the trains at the end of the peak period will be busier than now , this will cause the operating department of Northern more headaches than before . It wont be as bad as the end of peak restrictions at Virgin at London Euston but could be interesting to see how passengers habits change after this change. |

RE: Northern Rail
What is a disgrace about this restriction is that it is a blanket restriction and still penalises passengers going against the flow ie heading towards the Cities in the evening peak. |

RE: Northern Rail
In Merseyside its a bit different though as there is for some journeys still an evening peak on Northern between 1601 and 1759 , its a bit pointless though as a Saveaway is still valid . Be aware that Liverpool - Manchester fares are NOT priced by Northern but by Transpennine Express , strange as there is more Northern services between Liverpool and Manchester. |
