That doesn't explain why they'd advertise the service out of area. They must be looking for the Liverpool market and possibly those passengers who would normally switch to Merseyrail. Commercially though it would make no sense not to market the new service in the Wirral and Chester. It's not advertising that will upset Arriva - it's the fact that the service is operating at all.

That could be a reason why the X8 only stops at Bromborough Cross on the peak time journeys and not during the day , otherwise the stop is Bromborough Mill Lane

Why would Rock Ferry advertise the service when it barely stops on the Wirral?

The whole point of the service is to encourage people from Liverpool to visit Cheshire Oaks and Chester. The other is to provide alternate and extra capacity between Ellesmere Port and Chester via Cheshire Oaks to discourage people from using the popular GHA 36. Stagecoach want GHA out of the more north western parts of Chester and Cheshire west so that they can dominate the market

A large proportion of Liverpool passengers visiting Chester by public transport are over 60s so they are unlikely to use the bus when they can travel free on the train.

Not so, many people over sixty pack the Chester buses from Liverpool travelling to
cheshire oaks etc on thier pass,with many tourists boading as well

I'd agree with that, from Liverpool it's mostly foreign tourists visiting the Oaks, people with children and young adults going the zoo, and during the busier sales periods people travelling for a bargain. Very few OAP's board at Liverpool! A fair few at Birkenhead and Ellesmere Port however

Only pensioners from the merseyside council areas get free on travel on the train , national concessionary pass holders from other areas dont get travel on any part of the railway in the merseytravel area , this also includes Cheshire West and Chester pensioners in the Ellesmere Port and Chester areas .

In times of heavy congestion which does actually happen quite often in the run up to and after christmas it can take upwards of 20 to 30 minutes to get in and out of Cheshire Oaks , I have actually seen at times in New Chester Road going towards Liverpool two Number 1's chasing each other followed by another 1 close behind that .

Just to clarify, Merseytravel area concessionary passes are valid on the entire Merseyrail network including Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk.

English National Concessionary Passes are valid on ALL bus services in England irrespective of the holders permanent home address.
