RE: Merseyside Transport Trust
Fantastic running day today from MTT (along with some assistance from visitors).

1162 seemed to work on debut. I finally managed to catch up with 1000 (AKA 7000) - fantastic National 1. Also had a run on 1032 - another fine vehicle but for me the National was the high point having missed chances to ride it last year.

Thanks and well done to all involved. Look forward to the open day in July.

RE: Merseyside Transport Trust
1162 was impressive to see and very well driven, with one trip at least being handled by someone who was obviously an old-school Merseyside PTE man with plenty of Atlantean experience. Not a straight-through gearchange to be seen, heard or suffered and good progress made, just how it should be.

All the buses seen today are credits to their owners.

RE: Merseyside Transport Trust
Congratulations and well done to all involved today in the MTT open day. Weather looked a bit ropey at one point but eventually the sun shone. Another very successful and enjoyable day with very good loadings noted on most journeys I encountered.

RE: Merseyside Transport Trust
Two firsts for me today. First time I managed to persuade wife and son to the open day - the promise of a pub lunch and an open top bus ride worked. Also the first time I've managed to ride on a preserved National. Thanks to everyone at MTT for another enjoyable day.

This message is specifically for John Salmon but other members may be interested. On MTT's Facebook page John has posted a photograph from the Liverpool Echo showing a group of children boarding a LCPT bus as they are being evacuated from the city at the outbreak of WW2 and queried the identity of said vehicle.

According to my records the vehicle in question (FKB 358) is an AEC Regal III with Weyman frames but completed at Edge Lane. It entered service in March 1940 - just before the Blitz started, I believe - and was withdrawn in 1958. Positively ancient for a bus in those days! It did not receive a fleet number until May 1947 when it was given A170. Later in November 1956 it was given the x suffix when the Regent Vs were delivered.

I hope this information is useful.
