RE: London Overground
Where was this info about the 508s returning to London Overground posted? I can't find anything on it on the Internet. Really hope it happens though, would be nice to ride some of the stored 508s again and ideally see them spruced up outside and in. London Overground livery would probably suit their bodywork well.

RE: London Overground
As part of the Chancellors Spening Review Transport for London have announced the folloeing:- Electrication of the GOBLIN line between Gospel Oak and Barking with a possible extension of the service to Barking East London Overground to take over the West Anglia services fron Liverpool Street to Chingford, Hertford East and Enfield Town. All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

RE: London Overground
I wonder whether many other services local to Greater London will be taken over by London Overground? Examples are Waterloo-Kingston loop and Charing Cross-Hayes/Orpington/Bromley North? At a pinch, quite a few Victoria/Charing Cross/Cannon Street-Dartford services could move to LO. According to Modern Railways, Boris Johnson would like more rail servies to come under the remit of the London Mayor. |

RE: London Overground
When the electrification of the Gospel Oak to Barking line was announced the price quoted at £115 million seemed high. However now included in this scheme is the electrification of the freight branch to the new London Gateway port at Thameshaven which is about three miles long. All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

RE: London Overground
London Overground guards are all being made redundant as the network prepares to go entirely DOO-P. Merseyrail will be looking with interest IMO. Travel is glamorous only in retrospect. |

378135 is the first of the class to be lengthened to five cars, Being DC only this train only operates on the East London Line. All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

RE: London Overground
All of 378135-154 are now extended to five car for use on the East London Line. The next to be done will be 378202-10 which are allocated to the ELL. 378203 has already been extended. 378201 has also been extended whilst extended units for the North London Line will start testing at the end of March. A number of units (up to eight) will remain as four car for the EUS-WFJ line for the foreseeable future due to power supply problems north of Harrow & Wealdstone. This situation is due to last until 2016/17. Credit: Yahoo Groups All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

RE: London Overground
London Overground expanded on the 31st May with the West Anglia local services transferred from Abellio Greater Anglia. These include the London Liverpool Street to Chingford, Cheshunt and Enfield Town routes. They have inherited a fleet of Class 315s and 317s for use until new stock arrives in 2018, and have already set about refreshing them. Boris was on hand to launch the first refreshed 315, 315817 on the first day of the new operation. Nice to see these trains getting a bit of TfL treatment in their final years in London. |

RE: London Overground
Yes, it is encouraging that these trians are being refreshed rather than left in their previous condition until 2018. I travelled from Canada Water to Clapham Junction 2 weeks ago. The units extended to 5 cars have a plate at the front of the train to tell us as much! |

RE: London Overground
I saw one of the five car trains at Stratford back in May which had a gift wrap vinyl on the new fifth car. It was 378201 if memory serves. The Class 315 refresh for both the Overground and TfL Rail examples suggests a change of heart from TfL with regard to inherited rolling stock. The 313s they inherited back in 2007 were untouched save for a few seats being removed for more standing room. They're making a much better effort this time around. |
