It has not previously been reported in service. Just two to be received from Wolverton Works now - 319366 and 319379. 319380 is still at Stockport in use as a static trainer.
The WBQ service was operated by 319s yesterday.

All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles

142047 and 142041 both fitted with Merseytravel style seating formed the 1419 Huddersfield to Wigan Wallgate yesterday. Another Merseytravel Pacer 142053 was on Sheffield to Scunthorpe workings whilst 142005 was on the Huddersfield to Wakefield Westgate service.

RE: Northern Rail
The Liverpool - Wigan line was having a few problems this afternoon. One of the Liverpool - Wigan stopper diagrams was cancelled (diagram which included the 1531 from Wigan) and the 1603 was worked by a 150. Are there a few 319's off at the moment?

A 319 broke down at Edge Hill yesterday. Also the 319s were suffering badly from 'autumnal rail conditions' so a number of services between Liverpool and Wigan missed out stations to make up time.

RE: Northern Rail
Do Northern in some area's have what is termed a leaf fall timetable where services have journey times extended to accommodate the increased risk when train start and stop at stations.

Im not a lover of the service missing out stations so the service can be termed as on time at the destination .

Thanks for that. Missing out stations when late appears to be a current trend on the Liverpool - Wigan line, which is not good as it means that some stations will only get an hourly service. Yesterday the cancelled diagram was followed by the 150 diagram, so as well as some of the smaller stations not having had a train for an hour (on some hours), the next service also only had half the capacity of the normal service.

Yes. Mid-Cheshire, Buxton and Glossop lines are among those which have revised timetables between October and December. However, Chat Moss services are mainly operated by 100mph EMUs and still timed for 75mph DMUs so the 319s not being able to keep to 75mph DMU timings during leaf fall is worrying.

RE: Northern Rail
In leaf fall its the time taken to get stopped and restarted , rather than line speed .

You can always tell a unit that is struggling to stop or restart as you can normally hear the wheels struggling on the rails .

The 319s (and EMUs in general) are supposed to have far superior acceleration to the 142 and 15xs which is why it should be possible to speed up Liverpool to Wigan stoppers as a result of using 100mph EMUs despite the fact they'll never get to over 75mph on that service.
