While most Liverpool-Manchester Airport services were 2 car 156s, there were a lot of 4 car 156 workings between Liverpool and Wigan so on those services a 319 is less spacious (80m of train length instead of 92m) and less comfortable (3+2 seating without tables or arm rests.)

The Chat Moss services are very busy. The 0712 and 0812 TPE to Man Vic leave Lime St most mornings full and standing.

When it was a 156, the 07:15 Lime St to Manchester Airport had standing passengers from Wavertree, if it was anything other than a 156 then on occasion people were left behind at Newton.

The seats in the 319's are the same that the 156's had in when new. They are called Ashbourne seats. The Ex FNW 156's have Chapman seats and the ex ATN 156's have Richmond seats.

While 4 car DMU workings were common, two 156's wasn't that common as there were problems with platform lengths at places like Thatto Heath and Garswood.

Probably because they were short term planned (STP), they are on Realtime Trains.

Not sure of the relevance of that. Northern haven't used any 156s with the original interiors in Merseyside since the franchise started.

These: http://www.southernelectric.org.uk/featu...090315.jpg may be the same type of seats as these: http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/photo/scaled/511.jpg but the latter is more comfortable due to being 2+2 seating with tables and armrests.

RE: Northern Rail
I had in my mind that someone had made a comment that the seats in a 319 and 156 are the same, sorry for the confusion.
