Stagecoach MCSL - Chester & Wirral Depots
RE: Stagecoach Chester & Wirral
Except Birkenhead isn't Liverpool is it? It's part of the Wirral....and even if we stretch Ribble's former presence in Liverpool to include the Wirral, they never operated from Rock Ferry. Therefore the Ribble garage which is still in use is more appropriate for a tribute vehicle.

Cab door falling off - minor defect, unfortunately on this occasion with serious consquences. Just imagine what people would be saying if the door hadn't hit the driver.

Lucky enough its happened as he opened it to get out of the cab. Another thing that wasnt mentioned on here is within their first few days of service, a seat got slashed on one of the Gold buses, another reason why one could of been off the road.

By coincidence, I've just watched an early 1960s episode of Z Cars where Ribble PD3 1787 features prominently. It is first seen at Woodside about to operate a service to North Wales. I have no idea why a Crosville vehicle wasn't used but, if you believe what you see on the television, Ribble did operate through Rock Fery on the Wirral.

Oh I've no doubt that at one time and another Ribble vehicles have been around/through Rock Ferry - my point was more that it has never been a Ribble depot.
If only Gillmoss management had appreciated the historic significance of the Ribble Motor Services licence and kept it, rather than transferring everything onto Glenvale Transport...

Do you know if they're at Gillmoss for service or are they for onward transfer (or returning to Manchester in the case of the Magic Tridents)?

I think it will be interesting to see how these services take off , what you normally find is the first set will always be quieter but as word of mouth gets round the loadings should improve .
