Dart/Plaxton Pointer 2252 will be withdrawn on Saturday due to MoT expiry, ending around 16 years of Dart operation here.

Thank you for the update for those of us who do not have Facebook. Appreciated.

A rather unusual allocation today saw one of the Enviro400 double deckers on the 43/6.

I understand that the allocation at Southport is basically Enviro400 on routes 375 & 385, Commanders on route 300 and Pulsars on everything else, apart from Park & Rides using Enviro200s. Is this broadly correct or are there many variations in practice?

The 300 has had mostly Renowns on it, though that will no doubt change sometime this year

The 300 is primarily renowns but you will find the odd commander or pulsar on there as well. Rarely will you find a cadet, Enviro200, Enviro400 or Vlw on there, but there has been on the odd occasion.

The Renowns are appearing more and more on local work as they get closer to their withdrawal from service.

Although saying that, it just goes to show that a 15-year-old Volvo can still hack distance routes... And be sent out on such with confidence. Unlike a similarly aged Dart, before their withdrawal.

Just goes to show that a heavyweight with a big engine always beats the false economy of a lightweight with a small engine.
