I know this might have been covered months ago. It's just that I've seen some 160 routes in Formby replaced by routes in the F series eg F1, F2. I couldn't help remember Fareway having these numbers for Liverpool - Kirkby routes, in competition with MTL!

F for Frodsham in 1966; F for Fareway in 1987; F for Formby in 2016. I think that Cumfybus are now running the Formby routes without subsidy hence the change of number to give them local appeal.

Some service news from the Greater Manchester side of Cumfybus, effective from week commencing Sunday 31st October 2016.

Existing tender amendments:

553: Currently Bolton to Boothstown – Monday to Saturday off-peak journeys will extend to Higher Green, to replace a withdrawn service.

559: Currently Bolton to Hindley – most Monday to Saturday journeys will extend to Ashton-in-Makerfield, to replace a withdrawn service.

570: Bolton to Sutton Estate – Bolton town centre loop will no longer operate, service will run directly into Bolton Bus Station.

Tender gains:

484: Eccles to Prestwich – Monday to Saturday daytimes, with revised route and timetable (gained from Arriva North West).

510: Bolton to Bury – Monday to Saturday evenings (gained from First Manchester).

519: Bolton to Johnson Fold – Monday to Saturday evenings (gained from First Manchester).

525: Bolton to Astley Bridge circular – Monday to Saturday evenings (gained from Diamond Bus North West), all journeys on Sundays and public holidays (gained from Arriva North West), Cumfybus already operates the Monday to Saturday daytime journeys on service 525.

527: Bolton to Astley Bridge circular – all journeys (Monday to Saturday daytime journeys gained from First Manchester, Monday to Saturday evening journeys gained from Diamond Bus North West and Sunday and public holiday journeys gained from Arriva North West). Monday to Saturday daytime journeys will run to a revised timetable.

534: Bolton to Oldhams Estate – Monday to Saturday evenings (gained from Diamond Bus North West), all journeys on Sundays and public holidays (gained from Arriva North West).

544: Bolton to Little Lever – Monday to Saturday daytimes (gained from Diamond Bus North West).

As far as I am aware, the 553 extension replaces a tender that was released for bidding but not awarded; a one bus working for a new service between Leigh and Higher Green. For undisclosed reasons, TfGM could not award this tender. I think it was to be numbered 687 but I am once again open for correction if anybody knows of any information to the contrary.
